Beautiful bird!

Cluck Norris once had a meeting with the LGBTQ community, it now stands for Let's Go Brandon, That's Quick(how the country went down the toilet)

Just want to let everybody know the hinge cut is real... felled those trees pretty true to where I placed the hinge cut with a cheap electric chainsaw. I've been waiting on the Stihl Farmboss but somebody in the family doesn't like the price(it's not my wife):chair:

Does Cluck Norris kill the other roosters with a roundhouse peck?

We have six hens, but never had a rooster, and the hens were all but cannibalizing each other. Most of their feathers were gone, they were cut and a bit bloodied, and we weren't sure what the hell was going on. A friend had an extra rooster and suggested we throw him in with the hens, and within two weeks the hen had virtually all the feathers back and were totally in line.

We just bought an incubator as most of our eggs are fertilized, so we'll take a shot at hatching some to increase our flock, and if it works, we may start selling the chicks. It's a freaking frenzy up here when stores get chicks in; like an Apple store releasing a new phone, with people in line.

So we're now at the point where we're harvesting our own seeds and hatching our own chicks, and that makes two less things I need to rely upon others to get.

We used to clip their beaks, took care of the hostility.

I had heard a rooster can balance out a flock. But, we still didn’t plan for one. Perhaps it was fate.

Im glad your ladies are in line now. I’ve toyed with an incubator but working full time prohibits that for now.

Good on you for harvesting your own seeds and such. The more you can free yourself from the grip, the better.

Used a 9x13 aluminum frame to make a small greenhouse a couple weeks ago. Used rebar to make anchors for it. Had a massive storm yesterday with heavy rain and wind. It is still standing so that's a plus.

Put together the boxes for the bees and meeting a local bee keeper on his farm to learn and purchase hives from him. Really excited for this new venture.

Met with a neighbor on Sunday. Dropped off a bunch of pallets for him so he can use them on his farm. We got to talking about the state of things in this world and the situations we are seeing locally. Plenty of reasons to be pessimistic but trying to maintain a level of optimism. The good news is; all of our neighbors play for the same team. Meaning; understand and have made choices to be able to overcome whatever natural or man made situations seek to derail their lives. It is good to see so many people able to discern between what is bogus and what is true. Panic porn aside; its not just the world political and social climates. Being prepared for tornados, hurricanes, power outages etc. is important. I suppose decades of mockery and being the butt of jokes; anyone who isn't relying on a grocery store, the government or Walmart to get them through a problem is a lunatic. I'll take that badge I guess.

Those who feel that way about people who like to be as self reliant as possible probably don't know what kind of peace there is in being in the garden just as the sun is coming up. The connection that is there.

The rooster reminding you 25 times an hour that the day is starting.

Birds belting out their chorus as the steam from the overnight dew makes it way into the sky.

Grabbing fresh eggs from the coop while the chickens gather around your feet to ask for treats.

Walking into the house in the evening with fresh squash or beans for dinner.

Picking the blackberries for a cobbler.

Oh well. Its a happy place I chose to put myself in.

If anyone is reading this and has been wanting to have their own little place; just do it already. The time for procrastinating is over. Life has a funny way of ruining your best made plans. Get it done before you can't.

The other evening I went up the back slope of my house to the Pig Palace to put up the food, and found myself standing in this beautiful open field with pigs to my left, wild turkeys in front of me, a dozen deer to my right, with a hawk flying over head, and my only regret was waiting so long to make this incredible moment a regular part of my life.

I hope you took a moment to say "Pigs to the left of me, deer to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with you turkeys."

Hubby picked up something at a local farm today. I sat in the truck while he was doing the pick up and watched the chickens and rooster run around the yard. I even took video I was so entertained!

If I had free roaming chickens I'd start a youtube channel of them running around (with their heads on) and get a bazillion followers because it is funny and entertaining. 🐔 You guys with chickens are missing out on ad revenue.

Slowly but surly working my way out of the cage of the 9-5. Trying to exit the rat race is difficult because of insurance etc.

Compiled a list of revenue possibilities utilizing the land we are currently on because the market is so bass-ackwards at the moment.

I suppose I never really thought about bamboo outside of the aggravation of trying to keep it contained. But; the sheer number of things you can make with it, that people will pay for; is mind blowing.

I am currently planning the grounds to add a couple large greenhouses. I am renovating an old concrete floor shed that was used by my father in law as a catch all so I can do all my wood working. I just recently got orders for some wooden boxes for barns and a few custom signs.

Maybe a pipe dream. I cant explain why it excites me so much. Typically when someone is staring down more physical labor, they don't want it.

The Sunrise and Orange Sherbet mangos so far are my ultra favorites this year. Carries have been tasty. The couple Sweet Tarts I've gotten before others here have been perfection. Lemon Meringue great as always! Lychee took a big hit here this year but the Sweethearts are still delicious.
