Niners GM John Lynch admits he inquired about trading for Aaron Rodgers: 'It wasn't happening'

</snip>

The Niners GM admitted Thursday night that he checked in on Rodgers' availability and was swiftly rejected.

"You're talking about the MVP of our league last year," Lynch said, via the San Jose Mercury News. "I don't know about you guys, but when the MVP of the league might be available -- and I didn't know that, I'm just reading the tea leaves like everybody else and saying, 'Hold on, is something going on here?'

"Yeah, we inquired. And it was a quick end to the conversation. It wasn't happening."

as noted, Shlereth indicated deal was all but done yesterday.

for what its worth

further rumor from this morning is that there will be a deal, but after June

Cap hit to GB now is prohibitive

GB  directed Denver to pick Surtain to be included in the deal

who better to kick Big Ben into retirement? Rodgers to Steelers, second choice Baltimore. The Ravens don't trust Jackson in the red zone.

Wow....what a hugely depressing thought.  I don't want to have to hate Rodgers but either of those scenarios could make that happen.

Please send him to Denver.

GB picked a CB with their pick as well.

GBs defense has been the problem

will be a hoot if GB demands Den trade some WR talent to GB as part of deal, just to piss off Aaron

So now that you posted it I'm not sure what to make of the GM's name.

Kinda like that Jets fickin kicker.

If Packers remain dug in against trading Aaron Rodgers, a holdout or retirement is possible

Quote

The reigning league MVP remains adamant that he won’t return to the team under the current stewardship of general manager Brian Gutekunst, a source in Rodgers’ camp said, and that he’s willing to weigh hardline options at his disposal — from refusing to show up for offseason activities to holding out of training camp and possibly retirement.

Can Rodgers leverage out the GM?

Gutekunst = Good Art in German.
