Bills vs Colts Week 11: The Aftermath

When are we going to stop saying “didn’t execute”, “need to play better”, “need to put this behind us”, “didn’t get the job done”…………. And play football?  Tired of the sad “poor me” excuses and the same post game statements.  Either be a good team that we can be or throw the towel in and stop disappointing Bills fans who deserve better.  We have been a disgrace lately.  I see a level of enthusiasm and execution from so many teams in the NFL and we’re not one of them.  Step up Bills!

That's embarrassing and goes well beyond "players not executing" or "need to be better."  That points more toward completely unprepared, which is a coaching problem.  By my count, they were not prepared (as a team) vs Pitt, Jax, and now Indy.

It’s all of the above.

the League has clearly figured out how to play this team. Coaching staff needs to figure it out.

I think a lot of it has to do with wrong personnel and the way the team is built, especially on the lines.  OLine will certainly see some big changes, but I think the DLine and LB needs to see changes, too.  They need a bigger, more physical 1TDT, as well as a scheme change.  I also think the nickel needs to go away as a base defense and get a more physical MLB that focuses more on the LoS area.  There are times to play the nickel, but today wasn't one of those.

As I said, across the board they all played miserably.  I just cant place that on anyone except those with the ball in their hands. Those on the field. If they never played well, yes then it is all on the coaching. but they have had a hiccup.  Its the type that makes you puke but a hiccup just the same. Two weeks ago and this week something was consistent with player absence and we need to recognize that too. That all said, although Im not giving the coaching a pass, the players screwed this big time.

I gotta' tell ya' from here in the Rochester area it looked like projectile vomit.

He's a decent coach. Certainly out coached the Bills today. After the first quarter it was all run and dare the Bills to stop it, which they could not. The 106 yards by Wentz meant nothing, this game was all Indy rushing and Bills turnovers, and the Bills got destroyed.

I'd divide a head coach's responsibilities into four areas:

  • X's and O's.
  • Leadership: providing motivation and accountability. Making sure everyone is doing what they're supposed to.
  • Hiring coordinators and assistants.
  • Input into personnel decisions.

As Philly's offensive coordinator Reich out-coached Bill Belichick in the Super Bowl. So that's rock solid X's and Os. Wentz seems to play at a much higher level with Reich than without him; so that's a signal of good leadership. I'm not overly familiar with Reich as a coach, so I realize I'm only seeing part of the picture. But, the part I'm seeing makes him look like a very good coach indeed.

They were as motivated by their loss in the Playoffs last year as Stephon was by our loss to KC in the Playoffs last year. They took it to heart and we’re motivated by that experience. They had this game circled on their calendars when the schedule came out. We need to return the favor. Plain and simple.

@Jabba The Hutt and @Fansince88, you really must be idiots if you didn't think I wasn't calling you out for this garbage too.

I didnt even involve myself. I was asking because I thought they could have played but decided not to. Didnt even know they were unvaxed. I honestly thought the way the media went on it was just Josh and Cole that were unvaxed. I asked the question. And @NCBillsFananswered it. @Jabba The Huttwas the one that wanted to argue. Yet you call me out. Thought we had put your unwarranted dislike for me behind us. 🤔 Guess not, thats ok. Still wishing you the best.

I watched the whole game, and this argument is still the stupidest shit I've seen today.  :classic_laugh:

BTW, my applause there. It was because I agree 100% with your statement. Ann and Fox and I had a conversation about how to avoid the crap that the covid porn thread has become. Seems there is no way without ignoring the 4 that go back and forth constantly. And right in the middle of that sentence my wet dog jumped on my lap and spilled my coffee. Thought you would enjoy that. 😉

Look, I know you want to get in another tickle fight with me... but out of respect for this board, its fantastic moderators and fellow members, I'm going to keep it in the appropriate section.:worms:

You mean you're going to do that  AFTER you already decided to make it about you and me in this thread?

Sure Dr. Fauci.

But now you're correct. Bring it back to where it belongs and I'll keep exposing your stupidity there.

Saw this coming.

I can go back and find the posts later, but there was much discussion pre season if Josh got vaccinated or not.

I said then as I still say now that the choice is his and his alone. As it is for every other player.

However, I also said that if there comes a time later in the season and key players begin missing games because of the asinine NFL covid protocols and it is determined that they weren't vaccinated then you'd see media and fan uproar over it.

That is all.

Remember Stephon’s looking in on the KC AFC Championship game celebration?
Reich had the same motivation brewing with his charges after their elimination in Buffalo last past season.

What did The Bills do to KC on their field this year? The same that Indy just did to The Bills.

In the AFC at least, it would seem that all the teams are flawed to some degree. All have lost games that they had no business losing (Tennessee yesterday to Houston for example). It seems KC has gotten back on track, and even though the Steelers lost to the Chargers last night, they too seem to have righted the ship a bit.

We still have 7 games left to see who we are and where things are going to shake out. The schedule looks to be somewhat tougher than what it appeared it might be at the beginning of the season. Hopefully we can at least make it to the playoffs and win a game.

One thing I would like to see... Matt Brieda starting. Have him be the focus of the running game. Yesterday, while he didn't get a whole lot of plays, the few he did get he seemed to run the ball better behind our line than either Singletary or Moss have of late. Run Brieda to help get a better idea of whether it is the line or the backs that are the major part of the problem.

They're definitely not responding to adversity well this year. Some critical moments.

First drive. Two straight dumb penalties took them from 3rd and 3 at the 28 to 3rd and 18 at the 43. Josh then forced an interception.

Down 14-7, they force a 3 and out but Addison gets the obvious roughing the passer. Same drive, 3rd and 10, poor tackling allows Wentz to escape through the middle of the D for the first down. They ended with a field goal.

The next kickoff was the fumble and the game was over. They never recovered from their dumb mistakes. It just took the air out of them. Could have been an entirely different ball game

Frustrating.

3-4 is my call.

Wins against Jets, Atlanta and Saints.

Losses to Pats x2, Tampa, Carolina

9-8 after starting 4-1.

I have to believe we are a better team than that.

Just now, Foxx said:

Why?

Given that we've been absolutely mauled by power-running teams, what makes you think we'll have any success against any of the 4 teams I see as losses?

I'd have given the saints a win too, but they're in a bad way QB wise.

We did not fundamentally change from a 13-3 team that we were last year. We not only brought back everyone from that team that mattered, we had what appears to be a good draft, and brought in a couple free agents that should fill some of the holes that were on last years team.

Obviously not everything is equal at this stage, other teams have changed how they play us. But to that end, another year in the system should make up for that to a degree.

I don't pretend to know what the answer or solution is, I just think we are not that far removed from being who we were last year, or better.
