NE didn't have household names at RB, but they were sufficient. A lot of that had to do with always having a good OLine that could block for both the run and pass. Belichick has always understood that the least important ingredient in a rushing attack is the running back.

I think they are one more ugly loss from the finger pointing erupting so you may be right. But agree they have a lot of key pieces in place so no reason why this disappointing season should prevent the next few years from having lots of potential. 1

Certainly some truth on that, but some backs can actually challenge a defense's ability to make a tackle. Ours, not so much.

Patriots* 2012 - 136 ypg 2013 - 129 ypg 2014 - 108 ypg 2015 - 88 ypg 2016 - 117 ypg 2017 - 118 ypg 2018 - 127 ypg 2019 - 106 ypg https://www.footballdb.com/teams/nfl/new-england-patriots/stats/ Yes, but how often was Brady the Pats leading rusher those years? 117 ypg would be a decent rushing attack, if 60% of that wasn’t on scrambles or designed qb runs.

A run is a run is a run, baby. I’d love it if they had a better conventional running game, but you can’t just discount the yards that the QB gets. And because Josh scrambles, it keeps the linebackers honest and opens up the middle of the field for passes.

The part being left out is teams realizing they don't need to pass, they can beat Buffalo running the ball. This is the problem with stats, they don't paint an accurate picture of the situation, alone. Stats provide context - that's it.

Ok then... how about the stat where they have the lowest points against in the league? (196)
