Arm of Harm
Going into the 2016 election, the DNC and its allies advanced the theory that Putin wanted Donald Trump to win the election. They claimed the Russians hacked the DNC server, so that emails which demonstrated bad faith on Hillary’s part could be shared with Wikileaks. If any of that was true, Putin’s likely motives would have been either to help Russia or to harm the U.S. During Trump’s presidency he did the following: got us out of bad trade deals, reduced illegal immigration to its lowest level in 30 years, reduced legal immigration, lowered unemployment to the lowest levels since the ‘60s, lowered black unemployment to the lowest level ever recorded, made America energy independent, and strengthened the American military. The American working class and middle class achieved solid real wage gains after decades of stagnation. In other words, he strengthened America. But did he also help Russia? Well, no. Trump’s increase of domestic oil production lowered the price of oil. Russia’s biggest export is oil, and low oil prices are devastating for Russia. Under Trump, the United States sent the Ukraine much more military aid than it had received under Obama. Russia conquered the eastern third of the Ukraine during Obama’s presidency, and did not conquer additional Ukrainian territory during Trump’s presidency. Sanctions against Russia were more severe under Trump than under Obama. Trump blocked the construction of an oil pipeline from Russia to Germany, because that pipeline would have made Germany too dependent on Russia. Several months before the 2020 election, the existence of Hunter Biden’s laptop was revealed to the public. Democrats and their allies claimed the laptop was fake. Likely planted by Russia, to help Trump win the 2020 election. What about the above-described evidence, which demonstrates that the Trump presidency was helpful to America and not helpful to Putin or Russia? Democrats ignored it. They ignored all of it, did not engage with the facts, and continued preaching Russian election interference as though it was a religious sermon. “Preach your message like a religious sermon, dehumanize the opposition, and don’t engage with inconvenient facts,” is Democratic Party standard operating procedure. The Russia hoax was just one instance of that larger pattern. My question is this: why does that pattern exist? 1

Reid said in response to Bash's question of whether he regretted what he had said about Romney. Think about that logic for a minute. What Reid is saying is that it's entirely immaterial whether what he said about Romney and his taxes was true. All that mattered was that Romney didn't win.
