Joe was too timid in his analysis to be more critical of the offseason moves.

 

The Bills had a major problem with a 1T tackle last year, and the storyline was that Butler would be the guy coming off the bench to spell Star, and hopefully be the replacement in '21.  With Star opting out of the season left a still-hurting Phillips and Butler as the defacto 1Ts.  Beane did nothing to add to the roster, hoping to sneak Vincent Taylor through the PS (even though Vincent was uneven in run support last year. 

 

They were clearly hurt by not having preseason games, but should have known from training camp that more help was needed, yet they rolled the dice going into the season that the question marks would be answered on the field.   Unfortunately the answers they got weren't the ones they were hoping for.
