Not perfect alignment.  The Bush administration actually put some effort into thinking about and implementing some boundaries on the surveillance and security state apparatus, and was more careful about words and context.

Progressives want to use it completely unfettered against anyone they consider an enemy and label a "terrorist," including racists, bigots, and other "stochastic terrorists."  Note how they contextualize the Ukraine war in those same terms: terrorism (Russian, in this case) against an oppressed minority group.

It is more a byproduct of the evolution of it all.

No way in hell Bush could have come out of the starting gates saying what is being said and implemented now.

Boil the frog scenario, start with luke warm water and incrementally turn up the heat.

It was the plan all along.

Uniparty. There is us, and there is them. Was ever thus.

Remember, the media's role in gaslighting the nation on matters involving Russia and war is totally and completely unrelated to the media today gaslighting the nation on matters involving Russia and war.

Completely unrelated...

Remember, the good guys ALWAYS lie, distort, and censor dissenting opinions. That's how you know they're the good guys (checks notes) ... who are fighting to save democracy?

Too bad the US's position is to make a diplomatic solution impossible. They made this clear by publicly stating NATO membership was on the table while privately telling Ukraine it was impossible. They staked Ukraine to a chain in the T-Rex cage because they wanted an excuse to push for regime change in Moscow. It's been their agenda since Clinton's '16 campaign if not earlier.

But years of firebombing diplomatic ties to Russia, on the backs of establishment created lies like the Russia hoax, was done on purpose to make de-escalation near impossible.

Go on believing that there are "good guys" in this scenario.

There aren't.

When you find yourself on the same side as Romney, Mitch, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden, and Pelosi... chances are you're not only being had, you're actively supporting the wrong side of the equation.

These people want more war, not less.

And they don't care how many innocent Ukrainians (or Americans) they have to kill to get it.

"Weaponizing one of Ukraine's nuclear power plants?"

That's vague enough that merely fighting a battle and dispersing waste from the cooling pools on the premises of a power plant is justification.

Particularly if we keep pumping aid in to Ukraine.

If Ukraine were on its own...Russia'd be a pretty sure bet Russia would win an attritive campaign, it's just a question of how long it would take.  Since they have economic support, it throws all the calculations out of sync.

Assuming Russia has the appetite for a campaign of attrition with no end in sight, yes I agree. But Russian troops were promised they'd be welcomed as liberators and home in a week.  3 months later, its got to be a hard sell to get them to buy in to a drawn out campaign (where they are experiencing losses at a rate of 3:1) against a determined defense for ever shifting political goals.

I tried to find similar information contained in a single unassailable tweet, but this IC media link will have to suffice.  Russian military tactics sound a lot like that thing that Einstein never said about insanity.  6th time is a charm, boys!  See ya on the other side of the Donets.

Guys, Biden really wants to stop the war and hurt Russia. You can prove this by seeing how everything he’s done has emboldened them, egged them on, and now made them richer while we suffer.

But it’s totally worth it to defend Ukraine. Right?

Remember - these facts are irrelevant and if you point them out, you’re defending Putin or something:

Remember - the US doesn't want to escalate things at all. Anyone who says so is just a useful idiot for Putin.

Meanwhile, those people who keep regurgitating Neocon and Neolib talking points without irony are not useful idiots.

They're just idiots.

In the past two weeks alone Biden's outright said Regime Change in Moscow is the goal, then earlier he said the US would commit to fighting China for Taiwan.

But remember, if you question this administration's ability to successfully lead us into a war against the world's largest nuclear power, you're a Putin lover or something...

Remember, pointing out that this vegetable is incapable of the statesmanship needed to win a game of brinkmanship with Putin, thus putting the entire world at risk of nuclear annihilation is somehow verboten.

And all the people eagerly lapping up the neocon/neolib messaging on this war still won't answer the question that's been posed to them many times in this thread. They won't address whether or not they feel Biden is corrupt and / or inept.

Because they know there's only one accurate answer to that question. And if they give it, their entire position crumbles under the weight of its own absurdity.

*WHAT* special forces?

Marines guard embassies.  If they want to send a couple squads of Recon Marines...makes sense.  If they're sending Rangers or Delta Force...needless - and needlessly stupid - escalation.
