“I would like to remind the good and law abiding pistol license holders of Wyoming County the obligation under the 2013 SAFE Act to recertify their handgun license every five years,” Rudolph said in a news release. “I can tell you first hand you will not receive a letter in the mail or an email from the New York state police or any other state entity when you are up for recertification.

Anyone who recertified their permit in 2017 is again up for renewal this year, along with anyone who received their license in 2017, Rudolph said.

A license holder can check their Recertification Status or Recertify their license online at: https://firearms.troopers.ny.gov/pprecert/welcome.faces.

Recertification may also be done via mail by securing a form at https://troopers.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2020/12/ppb-2.pdf

Contact state police at 1 (855) 529-4867 for more information.

In other words, be prepared to be charged with felony possession of a firearm because you tried to do the right thing once.

&#%$ing NYS.

This is a pretty obvious way to get people to forfeit their pistol permits, without 'taking' them away. There's no reason they cannot send reminders, other than the state wants to try to &#%$ people over.
