They seem to be legal but I’m not a gun guy.  First because I’ve never shot one in my life, second if I was to, I’d probably end up shooting myself in the leg.

30-06 is my current rifle for hunting. No bagged a deer with it yet though. Thinking I will go back to the 30-30 this fall. That said, my friend has his dads M1 .30 carbine. Fun little round to shoot.

If you are ever down on the US side of the 1000 Island region look me up. couple hours of gun safety and squeezing the triggers and you will be hooked.....and safe. Clay pigeons are a blast.
