Normally you’d expect computer people to be smart. But decades ago, some computer person made the completely boneheaded decision to have an uppercase I look exactly the same as a lowercase L. (Instead of having horizontal lines on the top and bottom of uppercase I’s, as should be the case.) This is not the first time that boneheaded decision caused completely avoidable confusion. Nor will it be the last.
