Interesting moves.   Does this mean that Mongo won't be back?

So much for the report that Bills are signing Funchess.

Or 2mil could slide into Mongo's pocket to stay.

sounds like the NFLPA is being overly optimistic and misleading their members about sky rocketing cap numbers.
As Smith notes, based on reality, the cap for 2021 should have been tens of millions below 182m. with no fans in the stands, that number is likely between 45 -60 million less. From the link above & below,  the NFL borrowed $1.4 bil which sets the floor on how much the league subsidized the cap for 2021. Th owners have agreed to spread the recovery of the fronted money over 3 years. This would mean a reduction is the annual salary cap calc of 15-20 mil each year

Unfortunately, the mega-billions from new TV contracts don't kick in until 2022 for ABC/ESPN and 2023 for the other networks.

so if the league returned to 2019 revenue levels with full stadiums, the cap of 198.2 mil from 2020 would have to be reduced some  amount the 45mil-67 mil owner advance payment.

Big increases in cap likely won't happen until 2024 with full impact of new TV deals driving revenue in 2023.

From the cited tweet:
As Smith noted here, NFL players were the only ones in American major pro sports to get full salaries in 2020 amidst the COVID pandemic. But that meant, in essence, taking a ~$1.4 billion loan in a revenue-sharing system, and owners will recoup that money over the next few years.

Expect the NFLPA to attempt to negotiate cap floors in their next CBA.

I believe they already have one, requiring teams to spend 90+% of the cap in actual cash.

Yes, but I think they'll attempt to negotiate no cap decreases into their next deal.

The owners would be stupid to agree to that without a major concession by the players.

Of Course.  I just expect the greedy player's union to make the demand and the greedy owners to push back.

There will be asses in seats next year. I have little doubt.

It's already been shown that none of the games -- including the SB -- had any affects on the Covid numbers.

Texas and Florida are fully open now, which means full stadiums for the Cowboys, Texans, Fish, Bucs and Jaguars.

CA is opening Disney in April...and once Disney is open, everything around it will have to open, and once that happens, the rest of the state will open whether Sacramento likes it or not.

Once the other owners realize those teams are going to open up, they'll open up or create a shitstink trying.

no fans was referring to 2020 and a 45-60 mil reduction in revenue from the 2019 cap number of 198k

since the cap only dropped by 15 mil in 2021, the rest of the lost revenue needs to offset any increases in  next 3 years
