That's just not smart.  It's one thing not to have the players involved at all but you're gonna have issues if you lie to your most important employees.

The Texans made 2 mistakes:

 

1.  They told Watson he could be involved in the process.

2.  They did not honor the process.

 

I tried once to have the team involved in interviews.  Even through they were told I had final decision rights, they wanted a different person.  No good comes of having employees interview their future leader.
