Two questions:

1.) How long before he slaps a wounded player?

2.) Does he carry around ivory-handled sidearms?

Scott Fitterer offers varied experience, with a track record of success

The Panthers have offered Scott Fitterer the chance to use the eighth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

He might not know what to do with anything that high in the order.

But certainly, he's shown that he can help build a championship organization in a number of different ways over the years.

In offering the general manager job to the Seahawks' vice president of football operations Thursday, the Panthers identified an evaluator from a top program who has helped Seattle build a stable foundation.

So far so good for us this round.  We'll see if we lose some front office guys when the other teams start filling their staffs.

You have to wonder what role the league played in this announcement, given the team and the environment.  Rapp wouldn't have reported that negotiations were being finalized with Hurney if two sides weren't close 3 days ago.

They ended up with him as a "high-ranking role in the front office." But, you do ask an interesting question as Rapoport is only the mouthpiece.

Forgive my lack of knowledge on this but I just read Mayhew will report to Rivera.

Is that normal? I always assumed GM and HC were at least equally reporting to the same person. If the HC is going to have say over what you do, wouldn't that just make you some assemblance of assistant HC, even if your job is administrative?

Looks more and more like a compromise with the league to hire Mayhew.
