Last week I did wings because I have no idea what food Indy is known for other than milk in a glass bottle after a car race, but this week I might do crab for Baltimore.

A recipe I've been goofing around with recently on game days.  Instantpot Mac and Cheese:

3.5 cups water

0.5 cups Chardonnay.

One 16 oz. package macaroni

3 tbsp butter (though the butter we have in the house is low-fat.  Regular butter, I'd probably use 2 tbsp.)

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce.

1/2 tsp ground mustard

A dash of chipotle powder.

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp garlic powder

Other spices as I think of them (last weekend, I think I added some cumin).

Absolutely no pickle juice whatsoever.

Throw together the above in the Instantpot.  Pressure cook for 5 minutes.  Vent manually.  Then mix in:

3 cups cheddar.  I find I like a 2-1 ratio of mild to sharp cheddar best.

1/2 cup parmesian.

1/2 cup mozzarella.

1/2 cup light cream (find that gives the best texture).

Again, absolutely no pickle juice.

Mix, serve to wife.  If she doesn't gag, bon appetit.

And if you don't have an Instantpot, I can't help you.  My non-Instantpot mac and cheese turns out horrible.  In the Instantpot...I'm not one of those people who thinks the InstantPot is the end-all and be-all of kitchen appliances, but this mac and cheese recipe takes 10 minutes and turns out pretty well with it.

So, what do you have against pickle juice? What did it ever do to you?

InstantPot definitely has its place, but I'm with you. Some people think they need to make everything in it, and if I need to first sauté three different things in the InstantPot before everything goes in, you lose me.

But throw a whole chicken in there with a bunch of carrots, celery, onion, seasonings, fill with water and cook it for 25 minutes, let it sit for 15 minutes then manual release last bit of pressure. Pull the chicken out and shred the meat, put it back in and you have some ridiculously easy but delicious chicken soup. Cook some acini de pepe separately to add in with some parm reg and the InstantPot earns its place in the kitchen.

i take that back...how do you want to do the crab? Crab Cakes with that pasteurized poop ya get in the grocery store is a no go!!! No freaking Malaysian crab  with "Phillips" stamped on it...that stuff has like a year long expiration date...just cant be any good standing on its own

Now, a nice crab dip with the stuff? That works. Here is the recipe we use. Easy peezy, though very rich

But the InstantPot wouldn't cook it right, since it takes less than an hour.

I can just imagine him trying to vent the damn thing.  "Ow hot.  Ow hot.  OW HOT!"

A truly iconic line, aided with the imagery of BF hurting his fingertips trying to pick out the stuck noodles

I was thinking more along the lines of boiling up some fresh whole blue crabs.

now ya talking...although i KNOW you mean steaming them!

Not sure where you get live blue crab this time of year..the Bay is shut down for both VA and MD...maybe some from Carolina? Be expensive as poop i would think.

Crab feast in the fall with some real fatties and football in the background is awesome!

I saw cooked whole Dungeness crab in my local Stop and Shop. I was tempted. Never had a whole one except in a Cioppino in Monterey.

By the way, the pork was excellent! Still have some leftover and will probably have that again tomorrow or Thursday.

Boys working hard to bring the Dungeness crab to port in Oregon.
Yes, there is a boat under those lights.

🤮 Rough seas and me don't mix... I tried the pizza waffle fries last week, meh. The Buffalo Cauliflower and Pizza Bread might be the ones this week. Thanks for the links Ann!

The pizza fries looked so good, @Hitbyaparkedcar, I am sorry they were not as advertised.
