As the Bills eye their 53-man roster, the Bills will send Cody Ford to the Arizona Cardinals for a 2023 fifth-round draft pick.
Ford, drafted out of the University of Oklahoma by the Bills in the 2019 NFL Draft, has not lived up to expectations that come with a second-round pick. He saw action in 38 games, while starting 29 of them. Playing both guard positions and right tackle, he struggled to secure a starting position, and with this trade, ultimately, a roster position.
Under the tutelage of Aaron Kromer however, he seemed to be turning his fortunes around. With Kromer's guidance, he may have been playing better than he ever has as a pro. "I think he's done a really good job. He really has," coach Sean McDermott said after the Broncos game. "You saw him finishing off blocks in a physical manner. Today that stood out to me, and I think he's had a phenomenal training camp to this point."
Ford will now get the opportunity to block for his college teammate, Kyler Murray.
Cody Ford posted a goodbye message on Instagram.
