Buffalo Bills 2022-23 Roster

I was kind of shocked that we actually selected 8 players in the NFL draft. With the talent we have on the roster, it will be interesting to see how many make to the active squad, how many try to get stashed on the Practice Squad and how many get poached.

With the 8, currently unsigned, draft picks and 15 UDFA's that will round out our camp, we have 90 players that can call themselves Buffalo Bills. As of this posting, the UDFA allotment is in the works and not fully complete.

To get you to 53, I think one of Morris or Wydermeyer doesn't make the team.  I can't see the Bills keeping three TEs active.

It always seems mystifying to me to see Siran Neal and Taiwan Jones make the team...until I remember Neal's a solid special teams performer, and Jones has compromising pictures of Terry Pegula.  I mean...he must, right?  How else is a 30+ year old RB making the team every year?

And if Malik Williams doesn't make the roster, I am so done with this team.  Don't &#%$ with tradition.

From your 54: I don’t have Taiwan Jones, Isaiah Hodgins, Jalen Wydermyer, Quintin Morris, Luke Tenuta, Ike Boettger, or Andre Smith making the final 53. I have Zack Moss, Marquez Stevenson, Cody Ford, Greg Mancz, Tyrel Dodson, and Christian Benford in their places. So my final roster (48 active + 5 inactive) looks like this:

K (1): Bass

P (1): Araiza

LS (1): Ferguson

QB (2): Allen, Keenum

RB (4): Singletary, Cook, D. Johnson, Moss (inactive)
FB (1): Gilliam

WR (7): Diggs, Davis, Crowder, Shakir, McKenzie, Kumerow, Stevenson (inactive)

TE (2): Knox, Howard

T (4): Dawkins, Brown, Quessenberry, Doyle

G (3): Saffold, Bates, Ford (inactive)

C (2): Morse, Mancz

DT (4): Oliver, D. Jones, Phillips, Settle

DE (5): Miller, Rousseau, Lawson, Epenesa, Basham

ILB (3): Edmunds, Dodson, Matakevich

OLB (3): Milano, Bernard, Spector (inactive)

S (4): Hyde, Poyer, J. Johnson, Hamlin

CB (6): White, Elam, T. Johnson, Jackson, Neal, Benford (inactive)

Random notes on my roster predictions:

1. I have 30 of McBeane’s 45 total draft picks still on the team. 12 of their picks are no longer Bills. Hodgins, Sweeney, and Tenuta would end up on my practice squad prediction.

2. I have 19 new Bills from last season, 7 of which are from the 2022 draft.

3. This roster is so strong that I don’t have any undrafted rookie free agents making it.

4. If there are weaknesses, they would probably be veteran depth at OL and LB. Also, are we relying too much on the magic of Coach Kromer’s zone blocking scheme to solve last year’s run game issues? And do we have the linebackers to effectively play base 4-3 alignments against physical offenses that are oriented around power running (i.e. Tennessee, Baltimore, Cleveland)?

5. On offense, I am absolutely OBSESSED with the potential of this “11” personnel: Cook, Knox, Diggs, Davis, and Shakir! The themes here are misdirection and YAC. The Greatest Show on (Frozen) Turf??!!

6. On defense, Buffalo may very well have the best starting back 7 in the league! I suppose the themes here are large coverage ranges and positional versatility. It also helps that all of the expected 7 starters (aside from Elam) have played together for the past 4 seasons (and Milano, Hyde, Power, and White for the past 5).

EDIT: Misspelled Quessenberry.

this is where I'm at

Maybe, killing the Williams tradition will be key to a SB victory?

Hard to argue with this projection.

Bills 53-Man Roster Projection: A Super Bowl Team

Quote

NFL teams have wrapped up minicamp and the season is fast approaching. Pro Football Focus has ranked the Buffalo Bills as the best roster in the league, and it's a roster filled with talent. Nonetheless, by Aug. 30, all NFL teams will have to trim their rosters down to 53 players, and not everyone can make it. Some players will just miss the roster, while some will get the chance to be part of a Super Bowl caliber roster. Here's our 53-man roster projection for Buffalo: ...
