You follow a recipe!? Good for you! Mine are always a little bit of this, a little bit of that, until they have the taste and consistency I want.

Crap Throwing Clavin

Butter, light sweet cream, chives, a little bit of nutmeg.

Place in parchment cooking bag, run over with car.

How many times do you go back and forth over the bag?

Seven.

Seriously, though...a pinch of nutmeg works surprisingly well.  Literally a pinch - I'm one of those people that rarely measures spices; last time I made this, I'm not sure how much I put in, but it probably would have amounted to an eight of a teaspoon or less for 8 good-sized potatoes.

Pour a cup of the flakes in water and microwave.

I kid! No processed foods in our house. Well, less than before.

I used to eat those all the time back in my '20s....cheap, easy and surprisingly not horrible.

Recently I made twice baked potatoes for the family.  So basically mashed (butter, milk, sour cream and green onions) and restuffed into the potato shells and baked another 20 mins.  Add chives and serve.  Yummy.

I got a box with 8 packets after my dad passed away. I've used a couple and as stated they're not awful if you have a gravy to go with.
The positive is they haven't grown any sprouts yet.

To complete the low-sodium meal, serve creamed chipped beef over them.  That was a low budget fav back in the day.

I used to make them sometimes, same as yours but with bacon bits too and add cheddar cheese on top.
