I wasn’t sure where the video below fit so I figured I’d start a new thread.  I found it interesting and have a hypothesis based on it.  I’ll leave the video up for a while before adding my comments.

The whole video and it’s conclusion are interesting to me.  I follow their logic.  But……

 

Starting at 17:35 a portion of the video reflects PART of what I think is going on in the world.  In our world, a group figured out how and why cooperation works.  They’re cooperating amongst themselves but have concluded correctly or more likely incorrectly, that they don’t need anyone else.  They’re selectively cooperative….highly cooperative within the group…..highly uncooperative outside it.  Over time they have amassed immense wealth and power and created situations that make it truly or at least apparently seem to people outside the group that cooperation is counterproductive.
