As a true freshman he started at halfback and rushed for 1,412 yards, and was named Big Sky Freshman of the Year.

 

So of course they ran him out as the teams starting quarterback as a sophomore where he proceeded to be the first team All-Big Sky QB.

 

Apparently being the best quarterback in his conference didn’t impress the coaching staff at Montana State, so for his Junior year they made him play outside linebacker.

 

Unlike his Freshman and Sophomore years where he won accolades, his Junior year at OLB he did not, so the staff at MSU moved him inside to MLB, where he shined becoming a Unanimous First Team All-American.
