This will forever be known as the "MIttlestadt/Dahlin game".  What an effort.

(Levy is going to be a huge star in the NHL)

Mittlestadt put away two beautiful setups for each of his goals.

That guy has come a very long way this year.

Coaching matters.  Mitts has been a whipping boy because he couldn't do a pull up when he was a teenager and his draft status.  He's always had a lot of talent but let's be honest, not been put in any position to succeed.

He's scored over 50 points this season in what's mostly been a 3rd line role.  When he's been promoted, he's produced.  I hope we can keep him.

Just ridiculous hockey talent by Dahlin and the sense CM showed to create space is high level.

Well, because everybody still in the chase won yesterday, they're hanging on by their fingernails. They can't get the tiebreaker over anybody and they max out at 93 points. The Swamp Cats and Aisles are both sitting at 91 with the Pens 1 point back at 90. Each of the 3 teams they're chasing have 2 games left. Sabres have 4.

So, a single regulation loss by the Sabres would eliminate them at this point. They have 1 point of leeway against the 1st 2 and 2 points of leeway versus the Pens. Any win by either FLA or NY gets them out of reach of the Sabres, the Pens need a win and an OT/SO loss to keep the Sabres from catching them should the Sabres win out.

It doesn't look good, but we are in the season of miracles. It's been a very fun season. Hopefully their 2 game trip to the metro NYC area starting tomorrow is fruitful and the others start losing so the home finale vs the Otters still means something on Thursday. Friday's makeup game in C-bus could be the biggest game in 12 years.

Ironically, if Sergie Bobrovski doesn't get sick and if his backup Spencer Knight weren't in the NHLPA's player assistance program, the Swamp Cats would probably be out of the playoffs entirely as they never would've had career tweener Alex Lyon between the pipes. He's won 6 consecutive starts not giving up more than 2 goals in any of them.

Edit: Actually, they MAY be able to get the tiebreaker from the Pens. But it isn't a given and the Pens have it now. Need the Sabres to be winning these next 4 games in regulation to possibly get the tiebreak from the Pens at 92 or 93 points.  (Getting the tiebreak from them at 91 points doesn't help any as they can't take the tiebreak from either of the teams that already have 91 points.)

Dahlin is a 22 year old defenseman who now has 71 points on the season (74th game).

And a +/- of 11.

This defense...

:classic_blink:

He took three guys out of the play, including the goalie, with that puck handling.

Time to extend Levi?

Gutty 3d period and OT.  Thought they had it won a couple times before surviving the SO.

It is fun watching this team being built.

What a &#%$ing statement about this kid.  Man, the Sam trade is looking more and more like a win for Adams.

"Levi stopped all 12 of the Rangers’ shots on high-danger chances, according to Natural Stat Trick. With just a few seconds left in the third period, Levi stopped Adam Fox on a point-blank shot in the slot. When the game got to a shootout, Levi stopped Patrick Kane, Mika Zibanejad, Artemi Panarin and Kaapo Kakko to keep the Sabres’ season alive."

I think my personal nickname for him might be Jedi.
