Wow, Eagles pulled Hurts for Sudfeld.

I honestly don’t understand a thing Peterson does.  You’ve benched your $20MM/yr guy for Hurts, and three game into Hurts’ career you yank him for a complete nobody in the fourth quarter of the last game??

Wouldn’t you rather see Hurts win the game?

They're getting crucified (online, etc.) for tanking to gain three moves up in the draft. Frankly I think he just wanted to screw the Giants.

Pederson thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room. He annoys the hell out of me with these dumb decisions.

Eagles are just spinning their wheels with him at this point.  We've seen it with numerous franchises over the years.  The Fins with Gase, the Jaguars with Marrone, the Colts with Pagano, the Packers with McCarthy, the Skins with Gruden, etc...  They find early success and owners have trouble letting go.

Two things here...good for Browns fans...we all remember this 3 years ago.

But who else hears the shout song playing at around 1:38?

Not allowed to put any weight on the QB when you sack him.  A Dolphins player hurt himself a few seasons ago trying to avoid that penalty.

Correct call...but an absolutely hideous rule.

Not according to the NFL

Second paragraph, second sentence.

"When tackling a passer who is in a defenseless posture (e.g., during or just after throwing a pass), a defensive player must not unnecessarily or violently throw him down or land on top of him with all or most of the defender’s weight."

He wasn't throwing the ball.  HE WASN'T EVEN SET UP.

It's a bad interpretation of a very bad rule.

I did.  It's weird that a lot of teams use it. Everyone in the nfl has to know that is the Bills song. Just like sweet caroline is carolinas, lose your love by outfield is the *Patriots*, renegade is the Steelers....

That's one example of "defenseless," not a conclusive list.  The rule specifically - and ambiguously - does not say "passer who is hit during or just after throwing a pass," it says "passer who is hit while in a defenseless posture," and then gives a bullshit example ("during or just after."  What's "during?"  Does that include the tuck rule?  Does the hand have to be moving forward?  Does that include a pump-fake?  And how long after is "just after?")

But "defenseless posture" could also be a blindside hit.  Or trying to recover a fumble (or not - is someone trying to recover a fumble still a "passer?")

It was a perfectly fine interpretation of a very bad rule, because the only objective measure in the rule is "Don't land on top of a QB."  Which is what happened.

He wasn't defenseless or even in the process of trying to deliver the football.  He was holding the football with both hands, felt the pressure and even tried to escape by taking a couple of steps.  The dude hit him with his head up and form tackled him.

I hope every guy who hits a QB not named Allen from now on tries to take their head clean off.  You might as well get your money's worth if that's the standard for what a penalty is.

Oh, poor you.  Maybe you shouldn't have been one of the 4 teams that lost to the Eagles.  You won SIX games.  The last thing you should be doing is complaining about not making the playoffs.   You didn't deserve to be there under any circumstances.
