Asked about Josh getting a new contract:

Fair question. I have no doubt..
He's gonna come back humble and hungry.
Very proud of him. He's not reached his ceiling yet.

Another Josh question growth and proved:

Really played well against various defenses. Showed well against press defenses.
When teams didn't give him the deep ball, he checked it down (10, 11 yards)
Understanding the game.
He learned another phase of complementary football.
We don't have the success without number 17.

Beane saying they have to draft well. Due to the salary cap, they may not be able to be so aggressive in free agency.  "I would not anticipate any blockbuster moves in free agency." More plugging holes in free agency.

(end of year presser)

Ut oh... he's not looking at Singletary and Moss and thinking they came up short.

He was talking about a successful run game, and how it is more than just the running back.

Beane is saying: Ed Oliver is playing very well. He's learning and growing, and he's facing a lot of doubles. He may have started slow, but 3/4 of the year he played very well.

Tremaine Edwards... in fairness when he banged up his shoulder, that hurt him (his play). He's 22, he's young, and we have a lot of confidence in him.

Defensive line...

Smaller this year (says they were a "little light" for his comfort level).
The beginning of the year took them a while to figure it out.
The second half of the year they played well.
A.J. Epenesa - he played at a heavier weight in Iowa, they asked him to come in lighter, and Beane thought he came in a little too light.  Pleased with how he played the second half of the year. He has a high ceiling.

Milano:

"He's earned the right to go to free agency and see what his market is." We'd like to retain as many as we can. Again mentions the cap.

Someone asked about the rookie class.

Again mentioning Moss and how well he did.
Chatted a bit about Fromm and what an odd year it was for him. And that next year he will be glad to get into the room with the other QBs.
Bass, never made an excuse. Made big-time kicks. Great weapon on kickoffs.

Tightends...

Up and down. It was never where we felt the defense had to be concerned about the TEs. We want a guy like Kelce but they don't come along very often.

His words were actually most complimentary about Lee Smith.

Asked about Barkley and John Brown.

Barkley - he helps Josh be the best version of himself every day. Kind words about him (and his wife!). We'll see on the business side.

John Brown - never felt like he got in a groove after he got hurt. We'll see where that goes. He missed so much time and then Gabe started playing well...

I'll never forget Wawrow telling me one of the best teammates we have is Lee Smith. He is the most respected in the locker room, he is one of the best leaders, and holds people accountable.  Everyone likes him. He said the season we lost him it was no mistake we lost our locker room, too.

Cody Ford has played as many games hurt as healthy. He's had two surgeries since he was hurt and placed on IR. Like his versatility. I would be surprised if he isn't a starting front five next year.

Is a franchise tag possible for Milano? Possible, but will come to the cap.

Beane took questions for SIXTY FOUR minutes.

He's a terrific public face for the team in addition to what looks like a very good GM too.  Gosh the Bills are in good hands.

Confidence in Epenesa, Oliver, and Ford plus the likely return of Star L makes it more likely we go BPA available when it is our turn to draft.  Better than 50/50 chance that Barkley returns along with Lee Smith.  Maybe a stud MLB if he is there at 30.
