It's one of those things.  Even the worst content has led to the most epic threads (Retatta, The Telephone Pole, Homework).  Sometimes you swing at a ball in the dirt and hit a home run.

My view is slightly different: I go for volume, not quality, knowing that occasionally I'll find a gem.
