Which franchise could win first Super Bowl in 2021 NFL season? Bills, Browns Titans top list

</snip>

1. Buffalo Bills

The Bills fell one win short of Super Bowl Sunday last season, and there are legit reasons to believe they'll be better in the coming campaign.

First of all, it was a major win for Sean McDermott's team to keep both coordinators, Brian Daboll and Leslie Frazier. These two interviewed for head-coaching jobs earlier this offseason, but they're back for another year with the Bills. Huge for continuity's sake. Daboll has a tremendous rapport with Buffalo's most important player, Josh Allen . The 25-year-old quarterback has improved each year in the NFL, throwing himself squarely into last season's MVP/Offensive Player of the Year discussions, with a 37:10 touchdown-to-interception ratio and eight more rushing scores. The guy's become a star, combining a rocket arm with top-tier athleticism. Brandon Beane's done a spectacular job surrounding him with receiving talent, too. Stefon Diggs , of course, leads the pack, having just led the NFL in catches (127) and receiving yards (1,535) in his first year with the Bills. Wait until the guy gets to feed off Bills Mafia, who are champing at the bit to cheer on their reigning AFC East champions with Highmark Stadium returning to full capacity. Folding tables, beware!

Defensively, Buffalo took a step back in 2020. But the unit's quite experienced, with a number of established studs in the back seven, including linebackers Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds , safeties Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde , and cornerback Tre'Davious White . Up front, Beane added a pair of intriguing defensive linemen -- Miami's Gregory Rousseau and Wake Forest's Carlos Basham Jr. -- in the first two rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft.

All in all, the Bills have the necessary ingredients -- fantastic coaching staff, astute GM, star quarterback, pass-catching weapons, experienced defense -- to take the next step and hit the Super Bowl.

2021 NFL season: Predicting each AFC team's MVP

Buffalo Bills - Stefon Diggs

</snip>

It only took one season for Stefon Diggs to make a strong case as the centerpiece of the Greatest Trade In Bills History. Diggs was uncoverable in his debut season in Western New York, piling up 127 catches for 1,535 yards (both league bests). You can make an argument that Diggs is football's best wideout, and he returns to an elite offense that brought back its entire core, including fellow MVP candidate Josh Allen. Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll loves to air it out, and the unsettled nature of the Bills' backfield all but ensures Diggs will see something close to the 166 targets funneled his way in 2020.

One last NFL offseason move for all 32 teams: Final signings, trades, extensions, more to complete rosters

</snip>

With that in mind, let's take a look at one last move every NFL team ought to consider -- free-agent signings, trades, contract extensions and more -- between now and the start of the season. The clock is ticking. Let's begin in the AFC East.

Buffalo Bills

Acquire tight end Zach Ertz from the Eagles

We'll start with a move that has been speculated about extensively this offseason. While Buffalo's offense is already loaded, an opportunistic add of Ertz would be the icing on the cake. He is due $8.5 million in base salary for 2021, the final year of a five-year extension. Buffalo might view this number as a bit steep after Ertz's quiet 2020 season, but if a world exists in which that number can be reduced via an extension, Buffalo could make the deal more palatable.

It won't be easy, as Buffalo must maintain an eye on the future with a looming Josh Allen megadeal, but it's a stone worth turning over.

Last year he did have the Bills on the list (at #12)

The 12 Teams That Could Win Super Bowl LVI

Of the NFL's 32 teams, only 12 have a real shot to hoist the Lombardi Trophy next February. These are those 12.

4. Buffalo Bills
Last year’s finish: 13–3, AFC East champion, lost to Chiefs in the conference championship

Why they can win it all in 2021: While the Bills may have ultimately missed their window (Josh Allen will be a $40 million-plus player next year and Buffalo must begin to budget accordingly), they are still a tremendously well-coached team with a sound defense and one of the best matchup-based offensive coordinators in the NFL. Allen’s ability to scare teams as both a deep passer and power runner made Buffalo a continuous threat in 2020 and will likely do so again this year. Their ability to pick apart opponents could be seen in the fact that they were still logging a league-best 0.14 EPA per play rating on plays that did not feature backfield motion or any sort of presnap window dressing. Allen allows you to simply line up and play tough football. With the addition of both Gregory Rousseau and Carlos Basham Jr., the Bills have indicated to all of us that being a middling pressure team is unacceptable, especially in the ho-hum AFC East. Following the Buccaneers’ blueprint, their hope is that an overload of skilled rushers can maximize a talented secondary.

You Dirty Rat

The Bills will finish 7-9 because Josh Allen can't handle the crowd noise PLUS he has an Arrogant arm.

This guy has apparently been pretty good the last few years.

Analysis: Predicting turnovers for the Buffalo Bills in 2021

... The Bills were the third-best team in the league this year (tied: New Orleans Saints) in this metric, only three behind the Miami Dolphins. Additionally, as you can see above, the league has been trending toward less-and-less turnovers. That means my first prediction is this: There’s no reason to think the Bills will get better than they already were. They were already phenomenal. That said, there’s no reason to think the players or coaching will stop doing what they’re doing.

So, my best guess is in the neighborhood of 24 takeaways next year. ...

9 Bold Predictions for the 2021 NFL Season

Josh Allen Wins League MVP, Buffalo Bills Advance to Super Bowl 56

Jeffrey T. Barnes/Associated Press

After breaking out last season, Josh Allen will make another leap along with the Buffalo Bills. He'll put an end to any talk about a fluke 2020 season with an MVP year in 2021.

The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia and Matthew Fairburn noted Allen looked sharp on the first day of mandatory minicamp.

"As one would expect, Allen looks a lot more locked in and efficient with Diggs and Emmanuel Sanders on the field," they wrote. "And Diggs looks as quick as ever, gaining separation with ease."

The addition of Sanders opposite of Diggs should give Allen two dependable targets in the passing game. But the Bills got better on the other side of the ball this offseason, too.

They addressed their inconsistent pass rush by selecting defensive linemen Greg Rousseau and Boogie Basham with their first- and second-round picks, respectively. Those two will join Mario Addison and Jerry Hughes to form a solid edge-rushing unit. Defensive tackle Star Lotulelei will also return after he opted out of the 2020 season.

The Bills extended their best second-level coverage defender in Matt Milano, who lines up alongside Tremaine Edmunds to form a strong linebacker duo. All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White mans the secondary with two playmaking safeties, Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, both of whom have at least 15 career interceptions.

The Bills have a stacked squad that can go score-for-score with the Kansas City Chiefs and make some critical stops. They should make a run at the AFC's No. 1 seed and be a tough team to beat at home in the playoffs, which will lead to their first Super Bowl appearance since the 1993 season. ...
