I hope the brackets work out in a way that would allow for a Germany vs Netherlands final.

I saw a decent amount of Austria vs. Ukraine and yeesh was that poor quality stuff. Austria gets Italy in the knockout round.  Gonna be ugly.

If you recall, Italy didn't bring it to the field against the US in 2006 and yet won the World Cup.

 

France will be in the final, that is for sure.  Germany is always good.

I heard the other day that the last time Italy won the euro was in 1968. That was stunning to me. They’ve got a good shot this time around.

In 2000, Italy was winning 1-0 against France.  The 90th minute, Sylvain wiltord equalizes and David trezeguet took the lead in extra time.  The French often ask, what’s the fastest ever champagne bottle corking and recorking? Well it was Italy in 2000.

 

In 2012, Italy with a scrappy squad reached the final and then got trounced by Spain 4-0. 
 

This time around I’m quite confident but Belgium will not be easy.  They have a heavily built squad but the Austria match was a wake up call in my opinion.

Hopefully the wake up call will focus them. 
We are a Portugal/Italy house. The Belgians put a hurt on our intra-family hopes for a rowdy finals watching party.

Portugal has always been a team loaded with talent that could never make it over the hump.  Somewhat like the Dutch.  They managed to pull it off in the previous euros but with a phenomenon like CR7, they should have won more.

 

In other news, how about those low scoring soccer games the Americans always scoff at?

Low scoring does not mean no action. 
That’s my American take. 
 

I don’t complain about a 2-1 NHL final score.
