NFL leaders want teams to discriminate against white candidates (as long as it's not them) (msn.com)

According to USA Today, Andy Reid (Kansas City Chiefs), John Harbaugh (Baltimore Ravens), Pete Carroll (Seattle Seahawks), and Frank Reich (Indianapolis Colts) all demanded owners “only look beyond the color of these coaches’ skin” while demanding that owners hire coaches based solely on their skin color. According to the report (written by social justice crusaders Nancy Armour and Mike Freeman), Carroll, a white coach who was at some point hired, asked owners what was wrong with them for not hiring black coaches. Presumably, he did this without even a scintilla of self-awareness.

Of course, none of those coaches will resign their positions to make way for black candidates. Nor did they stand down during their respective hiring processes to let black coaches get their jobs. Funny how that works.

The Colts interviewed Leslie Frazier for the head coaching job in 2018 before choosing Reich. Does Reich intend to shame his own team for perpetuating racism by choosing him, a white man, over a black candidate?

BREAKING NEWS: Matt Rhule replaced in Carolina by some guy named Rich Kotite, who showed up at his interview in blackface and simply wowed team brass.

Our coaches are going nowhere for the next few years.

When I start a post with "BREAKING NEWS" it's invariably a parody---------------------------usually.

Get his ass back over in Buffalo as our new QB coach!

from how bad his dinosaur offense played, not sure you want Frank running your modern NFL passing offense.

Guy never had a QB

How much of that is his fault, though?

Seriously...last three seasons, the Colts bring in Rivers, Wentz, and Matty Slush.  Do we know how much input Reich has in to that?  If he insisted on that to the front office, he deserves to be fired.  But if the FO hoisted those QBs on him, he was pretty much &#%$ed over.

Much truth there!

Stephen Ross needs to take notes.

A team that has already tanked twice to get their QB, shows how the master does it.

just wait until Cutis Painter comes out of retirement

Irsay called Saturday “fully capable” of handling the job and said he’s “glad” that Saturday does not have any NFL coaching experience. Irsay said he feels that way because Saturday hasn’t “learned the fear” that comes with coaching in the league and causes too many coaches to lean too heavily on analytics.

Something else Saturday likely didn’t dream he’d be doing tonight is figuring out the identity of the person wo will call the offensive plays for the Colts on Sunday at Las Vegas, in his debut as the head coach. It’s a fairly critical job to the fate of a professional football team.

what's the problem.

Irsay took diversity to a new level,

by hiring someone no one else would ever consider because he has no qualifications whatsoever for the job.

Ironically, if he were black, the lack of qualifications would not be a problem

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/11/08/fritz-pollard-alliance-expresses-concern-regarding-colts-hiring-process/

“The Rooney Rule is the only universal hiring policy used by the NFL to promote fairness and diversity,” the Fritz Pollard Alliance said in a statement. “However, [Monday’s] news in Indianapolis illuminated a gap in the league’s stated objective. If the spirit of the rule is to expand opportunities, we believe that it must be consistently applied, even in the hiring of interim positions.”

Deadspin/Carron J Phillips literally made this same argument today: "They're racist, because if they were going to hire an unqualified coach, they could have hired an unqualified black coach."

But Phillips doubled down, pointing out that black interim coaches never get full-time head coaching gigs, so the Colts were racist either way.

Deadspin and Carron J Phillips: the warped gift that just keeps on giving.
