This is probably an embarrassing question to ask, assuming I cared about asking embarrassing questions, but whenever I see a QB taking the field after a kickoff/touchback, they are always pointing at which hashmarks they want the ref to set ball. Is this preference based on the play call they're going in with, or is there some other weird reason?

 

Often wondered. Never asked. Not embarrassed.
