I was in playa Carmen during the holidays and i loved it.  Very rich, plenty of $$$ to go around.

Looked like plenty of large European grocery stores to me. Heck, it looked like a large Mexican grocery store.

That is why we like to vacation for an extended period of time when we travel abroad. You can learn a lot by exploring the neighborhoods, talking to the locals, hitting the grocery stores, bakery, hairdresser, etc.
