As we have dedicated threads to all of the player groups, here is one in a similar vein for the coaches and management.

Another Carolina connection:

In addition to not losing many players, they haven't lost many coaches either. This continuity across both aspects can only benefit the upcoming season.

On the issue of the staff, we need tp get production commensurate with the draft capital and salaries we are spending on the defensive line.

I'm not sure the issue is with McDermott's or Frazier's directives, but D'line coach Washington and asst. D line Cesaire need to get way more out of this group in '21.

Something isn't working fully on that unit.

Speaking of the cost of the DL:

Josh’s number of that $9.4M against the 2021 cap is only $6.9M. Very soon the rest of the top 51 salaries will need to take a ~$35M haircut to offset his new contract. Our rounds 1-4 draft picks fall into the top 2 areas of current spending, which will give the Bills a few years of lower, cost controlled contracts to help this balance. Now, we need the positional coaches to work their magic and get them on the field and productively producing, sooner rather than later. And as @Sherpamentioned, those DLine coaches need to seriously up their game to achieve this.

The lack of production from the DLine surely isn't from Beane not acquiring or paying them.

Something to watch closely this year.

The DL is average.  But you're also comparing the '20 results to the '21 cap.

Last year the production relative to cost was fully related to overpaying players who didn't fit the scheme.    Keeping Murphy, and signing Butler and Jefferson were big $30 mil mistakes.

This year, Star's big cap hit comes back but the performance should improve because no one came close to filling that big body role.

I'm not comparing anything to anything.

The Defensive Line is simply not producing commensurate with draft capital and real capital spent.

Whether run defense or pass defense, the line is not up to snuff.

Could be scheme. Could be scouting weakness.

We simply are not getting value from that unit.

Again, don't know if it's McD, Frazier or the position coaches, but it is obvious.
