I’d like it if the Sabres can get Andrzej Palat from TB.

The lightning have cap trouble and he’s a FA.

Yep.  Now they're only ~$16MM below the cap floor.  And as he'll be on LTIR if necessary, it doesn't affect their ability to stay under the cap ceiling.

 

Was hoping the pick would be a 5 or 6, but at least now they won't get absolutely nothing for that cap space.

It's very possible, maybe even probable.   Can't see anyone other that Tuch on the current roster being in the conversation for this season.
