I can't understand why these NFL owners continue to sign rookie head coaches or other less proven head coaches on guaranteed deals for 4,5,6 years. There's a lot of precedent, but it's just dumb. You just don't see this much in other industries. Guarantee some portion of the remaining contract, fine. Guarantee it all, dumb. Problem is with 20% turnover for NFL coaches every year, the market for replacements is hyper competitive. That probably explains it. I don't think most coaches would sign up for less than 5 because it takes about that long to actually rebuild a bad team. The problem with the Raiders is they were "building" like they were a player or two away from being a true SB contender, so they spent a lot of assets on guys like D. Adams and Chandler Jones, while their HC was alienating their franchise QB. It's just not how it's done. You seriously replaced Carr with Garrapolo...on purpose. How that decision alone wasn't a fire-able offense is beyond comprehension. Meanwhile, our "fans" constantly complain about everything our organization is doing, as though GMBB/HCSMcD are easily replaceable with someone who will guarantee a SB. We used to be all these bad teams rolled into one. How quickly some have gotten jaded. 1 1

Makes you wonder what was going on inside the Raiders. 5 year deals are fine. It's the fully guaranteed deals for the unproven candidates that are questionable IMO, but again supply and demand. The Bills seem to be in above average hands with Beane/McD, maybe above above average. 1

devnull
Big Ten bans Michigan's Jim Harbaugh from sideline Could this prompt Harbaugh to return to the NFL? His former team, the Chicago Bears, are likely to dismiss Matt Eberflus after this season. The Bears will possibly hold a pair of top 5 draft picks and potentially the #1 overall pick

Good luck Jim with that dysfunctional org if it happens.

They are talented on both sides of the ball. They really should be competing with the Chiefs for the the division.

Its amazing how many so-called fans want McD gone and will blame him for literally everything and think that there is zero risk with brigning in someone else and its a literal guarantee that new coach will win the Championship.
