This kind of surprises me. Granted, they have come up short, but I genuinely felt like they beat Jax with nothing to gain because the team heard he may be out, and wanted to rally for him.

He's not going to be unemployed long. Might end up in NE which would suck for the rest of the AFCE.

Not necessarily. He'd still need a quarterback because he doesn't have one on the roster, and that will take time to build.
