Mayfield is one awkward fall away from season ending surgery.

He's gonna need some surgery and time to heal. Gonna be interesting what his contract offer will be...

But what about his "Commercials Schedule" for after the season ?

Buckle up, the QB carousel is going to go off the rails. Again.

I like that the Bucs are on the list.  I mean, I doubt it...but I like it.

On the Fox pre-game show, Jay Glazier said he asked Baker when he would be back, he said next week.

🤪

I’ll be impressed if he plays again this calendar year. JMHO

He shouldn't.  He could risk his entire career trying to come back this season.

Rest of world: Cam Newton’s odds of being signed are looking up now that it's week 7 and starting QBs are dropping like flies league-wide.

I may not agree with all his hit and miss designations, but one thing is pretty conclusive: drafting a QB is hard.

I've been talking about how QBs in the latter half of the first round don't hit often, so it's time to put some numbers on that.
So here's the totally arbitrary rules that I'm making for this study.

We're working in the 2000s only. Only one player is still around from before that and we all know he's a huge outlier.

We're dealing with very small sample sizes. Keep that in mind.
An advantage of small sample size is that we can play it a little looser with what constitutes a 'hit' and a 'miss'. For instance, if we were constrained by pro bowls, Mitchell Trubisky would be a hit while Justin Herbert would not. That's no bueno.

I think what makes drafting a QB so hard is how deceiving stats can be without extensive knowledge of the type O a QB operated under and supporting cast. Or how well that QB will fit your system and your supporting cast. Which to me is a very important aspect. Normally even on a high round miss when searching for that elusive franchise QB. System fit at the very least becomes serviceable IMO

I view the Pats latest 1st in Mac Jones in this manner. System fit.

Now the clock is ticking...
