I am surprised his trade value would be this low.

I'm surprised it's that high.  He's tough...but he's surrounded by more talent than most QBs enjoy and he's not performed at a high level very often.

While all true, plus that he's played injured so much (practically to the point of RGIII'ing him)...there's plenty of franchises out there dumb enough or desperate enough to trade more than a 2nd for him, too.

Indy comes to mind. Not because I think they're dumb but rather, Reich might be desperate.

I’m surprised it’s that in the middle.

If I’m Cleveland management trying to dig myself out of this hole I either:

Try to get Ryan by orchestrating a three team trade getting Baker out of town or

Tell Baker I have been offered one but want to keep him over Ryan so I can mend his hurt feelings a little.

I don’t just let it sit and have Ryan end up in Indy or wherever.  I have to do something.

Yesterday on the radio I heard the Seahawks had interest in him, just a few hours after Pete Carroll said he and his staff have loved Drew Lock coming out of college and they can't wait to give him what he needs to show his natural talent.

"We love Drew Lock and we can't wait for...wait...what?....Baker may be available?"

Wut:classic_blink:  You have to give a king's ransom in picks but guaranteeing the third and fourth year is your line in the sand??

wut.jpg.2bbd305a4c2eb9f7b8710745c1469328.jpg

what does the Watson camp care about the picks being given up

He doesn't get to spend them

sounds like that big contract may not be as big in reality as advertised

the guaranteed money is collateral damage from Rodgers contract

if other teams are guaranteeing those years, he would be a fool to not get it

his best leverage is before he is locked into a team

Huh? That says Carolina didn't want to guarantee the third and fourth year. My point is if Carolina was willing to give up a ton of draft capital for Watson, why would they balk at guaranteeing the contract?
