Counterpoint: I've seen you say this before.  It's like Obama's Summer of Recovery at this point.

That is a fair statement...then we traded O'Reilly.  Oh, and then Ralph decided to completely show his ass.

FFS, that organization.

Our defense has a hard enough time tackling guys whose hands are full because they have the ball, and you expect them to be able to tackle guys who are empty handed and can therefore fight back?

You are discussing the deep kick?  How about moving back a bit and discussing who choked on the coaching staff and kicked an extra point rather than running out at least 10 seconds by going for 2?   There should never have been any kick.  The game should have been over or so very near as not to matter even for any QB who exists.    Send a few guys wide, one of whom is a backup QB.  Have him drop back 20 yards on the snap….Josh , ( one of the best scrambling QBs ever) dances around, looks for either a receiver in the end zone or a lane to score.  Nothing?   Chuck it back and let that QB dance a bit and then heave it as high and far into the stands as he can.           The game would have been over before the ball ever hit the spectators in the stands…..

The clock doesn't run on extra points or two point conversions.

Other than that, nice rant.  You related to Joe, by any chance?

Probably related to Dak Prescott, I'd wager.

I sure hope so.

It would be interesting to see if the D is Frazier's personality or McD's.  Until Leslie moves on, we may never know.  They've been tied at the hip since 2017.

KC needed 60-65 yards from the goal line in 12 seconds (two plays) to attempt a FG.  Giving them the first 25 yards at the cost of zero seconds is about as illogical as you can get.  McDermott was too scared of a MSM situation and thus didn't let his kick coverage (which has been excellent this year) take care of business.

Had they kicked short, either:

-KC goes for the return, uses up five seconds to get out to the 25, and then only has one play to get 40 yards.  Bills play their stupid deep zone, Mahomes takes the open 25 yard play, and it comes down to a Hail Mary.

Or,

-KC takes a knee at the 10, Bills play their stupid deep zone, give up 45 yards in two plays, and it comes down to a Hail Mary.

McDermott gets an F for failing in the biggest moment of the season.

I totally agree with this but remember the ST play at 11:28 in the 4th. Haack kicks 46yards to the KC 39. T hill runs the ball to the Buffalo 16yd line for  a total of 45 yards. Now, You are MC D. You have that play in your head and the way your team suddenly forgot how to tackle over the last 45 minutes unless it is your own teammates.  I dont hate him for the kick. Should have kicked it to someone not Hill and squib kicked it. But I get his concern.

The only way this works is if Davis doesn't get into the end zone immediately. That could backfire as well. had we only picked up the 1st and got to 1st and goal at the 1yd line. Time out and then a run play. Then there is no guarantee we win the game. ball didnt bounce our way. Sucks but it is over.

Tackling Kelce is an awesome idea IMO.

Edmunds should have lined up in Kelce's face and danced with him to take him out of his route

and then blitz

Kelce would have knocked Edmunds on his ass.  Edmunds has a high center of gravity that constantly works against him.  But hey, he's a tall guy in the middle of the field 20 yards past the LOS, for whatever good that does.

13 seconds: Mahomes marches down the field for the game-tying field goal.

14 seconds: Dak Prescott runs a QB draw, Cowboys fail to line up for the next play.

KC had all 3 time outs remaining….Dallas had none.

I agree that the kick off should have been short (around the 10 yard line) and force them to run it out and use up some clock. If you use up only 4 seconds, they only have 9 seconds left. Mahomes probably only has time for one play plus either a Hail Mary or some 65 yard FG attempt.  The way the Bills were playing defense (not really playing, and not tackling) you definitely wanted to limit Mahomes to only one offensive play. As you can see, giving him two plays which took 10 seconds, got them about 45-50 yards.

still would have slowed him down

not let him run with free release

I want to think outside of the box for a moment...

Say we do kick the ball out of the endzone to eliminate the possibility of a long return. KC lines up to snap the ball with :13 seconds on the clock. KC snaps the ball, you then tackle any and all receiver eligibles. You are penalized 5 yards and they get a first down. More importantly, the clock ticks off a minimun of 4 seconds the first time. You now have :09 seconds. Do it again. Maybe they get wise and 3 seconds burn. You now have :06 seconds. Do it again and when he dirts the ball they now have second down and :05 seconds.

You get the idea...

I said this exact thing in the other thread last night.  It’s hard to blame them for not coming up with this in the moment but some team somewhere had this plan ready to go.  Baltimore did something similar a few years ago on a punt formation.
