Saw a clip that Maguire said the night before the game, they took advantage of Namath's alcoholic tendencies to get him so shit faced he had trouble functioning.

The Bills won only one game that entire year. They beat the Jets, 37-35, in a few hours of utter football madness. “Joe Namath completed seven touchdown passes,” said Dan Darragh, the Bills quarterback at the time. “Four were to his team, and three were to us.”

Indeed, the Bills scored one offensive touchdown, on a 2-yard-run by Ben Gregory. They won the game by turning three of Namath's five interceptions into touchdowns, including back-to-back picks by Byrd and Booker Edgerson in the fourth quarter, interceptions that were only 62 seconds apart. Byrd returned his for a 53-yard score, Edgerson for 45.

Earlier in the game, safety Tom Janik intercepted Namath and took the ball 100 yards, the length of the field, for a touchdown.

Ugh.  The drought front office.

Not quite as bad as Mike Williams (OL), though.  Did they even have a scouting department that actually went out and talked to prospects, and found out if they were willing to put in the work?

I might worry about Elam being a bust, but at least he said "Put the playbook on the plane!"  Can you imagine Williams or Dareus asking for anything but?  "Put the Twinkees on the plane!"

This was an amazing sequence of events.

Was watching that game live back in the day down in Houston.  And because the stupid friggin' Eulers had a 4PM (3PM local time) game against some horrible team like the Cards, NBC had to switch to that game at 4 with like 3:30 left in the game.  They didn't even wait until kickoff of that game; needed to hear the 2 announcers babble for 5 minutes.

Was soooooo ticked about that.  And had to wait about 15 minutes for the 1st "10 minute ticker" update to roll around.  Stupid friggin' Flaming Thumbtacks.  Still can't stand that team.  They can run, and they can try to hide, but they're still the same team that used to consider wearing baby blue and baby pink (yeah, yeah, sure it was red; but a pencil thin red line looks pink against a white or baby blue background on a standard def TV) a good choice for 280 # behemoths trying to rip other guys heads off.

A minor nitpick but NBC carried the Broncos-Bills game in 1990.  I still remember Bob Trumpy getting excited over those 77 seconds.  He was often paired up with Buffalo native Don Criqui.

Absolutely correct.  And thought that NBC is what was written.  D'oh!!!

And yep, Trumpy and Criqui was their best pair.  But the Greatest Game Ever Played had Christiansen (sp?) and Charlie Jones.

I enjoyed a number of their Bills games including the 27-0 shut out we gave Miami in 1987.
