According to NHL radio Sammuelsson's knee injury is not serious.  It didn't look great when it happened.

It seems they expect him to be out ~ 1 month.  Speculation is he's already had an MRI on the road trip but will get another when he gets back to Buffalo & they'll know better when they have that one after the swelling has been reduced.

Clague was brought up, presumably to be the 7, with Pilut getting his 1st action as a Sabre in over 2 seasons.  (Went to Russia when Botterill wouldn't offer a 1 way deal.)

If you watch the recap...you'll see that Olafsson scored on the PP only to have it overturned because of an offside 14 seconds earlier...and then scored again BEFORE his previous goal (clock-wise).  I have never seen that before.

The offsides rule is &#%$ing mind-numbingly stupid.

It used to be (~10 years ago) that people could swing by account services and get the hat back if they wanted it back but very few hats were returned.  The rest that were in good condition got donated to shelters and the ones that weren't got pitched.

Expect nowadays in the post-lockdown world that they all get thrown out.  But don't know that for certain.

What a fun game to be at.  Too bad the majority there tonight were dressed as empty chairs.  (Who knew Sabres fans were also huge Clint Eastwood fans.  ;) )

Was living in the south when LaFontaine was on the scoresheet for 8 consecutive Sabres goals back in '92-'93, but was there for all 8 of Thompson's (all 9 technically, but only 8 were consecutive, he had no part in the Cozens goal) points.

9 points in 2 games will move you up the league's points leaderboard pretty quickly.  Technically he's still on his bridge contract.  Talk about a "value" contract.  The big money deal doesn't kick in until next year.

I was really curious to see how the team played against the Red Wings, who've been better than expected.  A little bit of a lapse at the end of the second/beginning of the third but overall a really dominant game.  Over 45 shots for the 3rd consecutive game.  They boys were buzzin'.

Thompson is a pretty good lesson for everyone.  Getting another team's first rounder in the NHL generally means project that pays dividends down the road.  He took some time and the right coach but he's quickly becoming one of the better players in the NHL.

My favorite part was when their goalie took a penalty.  It looked like he did it on purpose so he could get a breather while they sorted it out.  He was gassed.
