I don’t like blaming any politician for making shit decisions during Covid.  They all did — and I’ll never say that I could have done better. I’m sorry to hear about your dad.  We lost my father-in-law in similar circumstances.

Your post, above, certainly reads like Covid deaths were anyone’s fault but Trump.

Biden continued policies that Trump started. Would they have continued as long if Trump were re-elected? We will never know. Or were they Pence’s policies (which Trump vocally supported all along)?

You can’t commend Trump for leaving shutdown policy decisions up to individual states and then blame the Biden administration for following the same policy. The only difference between the two is that Trump was pushing for more openings and Biden was pushing for the opposite.  Cheerleading for one or the other had little or no effect on whether states stayed shut down or eased restrictions. Actually, cheerleading for one or the other only stoked division.

Also, you point out that Trump called for alternative treatments but you leave out that he backed down on actually trying to implement the alternatives when he got pushback. Did Pence shut those alternatives down? You seem to say that the buck stops at Pence.

What does that have to do with dealing with policies for handling a pandemic?  The horse was out of the barn.  And the barn owner wasn’t saying where the horse came from or how it got out.

Actually, the administration that got the ball rolling on the vaccine was Trump’s. The vaccine was completed before the election, and the announcement was withheld until after the election.  If Trump had won, you can bet your bones that same “largest clinical trial” would have still taken place.

Covid deaths were China's fault. And Fauci, and whoever else in our government funded that research.
What policies did Trump start that Biden continued? I am curious. The border being closed. Anything else?
You think Pence put policies in place? What were those? I am no a Pence fan (at all), but I think he ran interference more than put any kind of policy in place.
Trump backed down from the alternative treatments!? He received those alternative treatments when he first came down with Covid. He never stopped talking about those treatments. Heck, at the time it was said that is why the hospitals and doctors were so against them... because Trump supported their use.

"What does that have to do with dealing with policies for handling a pandemic?  The horse was out of the barn.  And the barn owner wasn’t saying where the horse came from or how it got out."

In the beginning? To try and stop the bioweapon. But, I wish he had not done it.  Whoever advised him and his decision to close the borders, I wish it had not been done. I also wish he had reopened the borders. Biden didn't open them until November of 2021.  (The border with Canada was only closed for recreational purposes. People went back and forth with Canada constantly if they had a job, truck deliveries, and in cases of hardship. I do not know if it was the same in the rest of the world.)

"Actually, the administration that got the ball rolling on the vaccine was Trump’s. The vaccine was completed before the election, and the announcement was withheld until after the election.  If Trump had won, you can bet your bones that same “largest clinical trial” would have still taken place."

The first vaccine was given December 14, 2020. It rolled out to healthcare works soon thereafter. It was not available to the over 65 crowd until after that (my father died the first week of December). But, as you said, it was available before then and withheld from the public. So, who in the administration knew it was available and withheld that information from President Trump, allowing more people to die?

(a) The question is what Biden's administration did differently from Trump's Administration. You blame Biden for deaths but not Trump.  Be consistent.  Blame them both or blame neither.

(b) You passed the buck to Pence in your first post.  I would never have brought him up if you didn't. Trump praised Pence's handling of the matter at every press conference.

(c) To "stop the bioweapon"? really?  how would that have worked?

(d) In your first post, you denigrated the vaccine. Now in this post, you say that withholding the vaccine  allowed more people to die?  But further to your point, perhaps a more effective President wouldn't have had the vaccine withheld from him for any period of time.

You made a statement about how others are more responsible for the mishandling of the Covid crisis than Trump.  Someone else pointed out to you how your post read like it was everyone else's fault. I agree with that someone else.  It is very clear that you're rounding corners and ignoring what happened and downplaying Trump's involvement to suit your support of the former President.  That's fine.

(a) I don't blame either of them for covid deaths (well, unless they personally funded the research, then I would blame them personally for covid deaths).
(b )I asked a lot of questions about what Pence knew, and when he knew it. If he was the point-man, what was he telling Trump?
(c)No idea. As I have said numerous times, that is what I believe he (and other world leaders) were told.

(d) I denigrated vaccine?  Not for the original strain

"That vaccine was seen as a godsend. My father died of Covid in a NYS nursing home (staff brought it in as they were on lockdown) in December of 2020. If there had been a Covid vaccine available for him to take in November of 2020, you can bet we would have given it to him. People over 65 were at risk, dying by the thousands daily, and we would have grabbed with two hands the possibility of a preventative.

What we know now, and with the clarity of hindsight, is that the vaccine after the initial Covid strain, sucked. Ivermectin and all the other protocols should have been used. When Trump suggested it, the “msm” and health officials had meltdowns. Those treatments were banned from hospitals! Remember the ventilators and Trump saying they’d be worth $5 when the Covid crisis was over?"

You then responded:

"Actually, the administration that got the ball rolling on the vaccine was Trump’s. The vaccine was completed before the election, and the announcement was withheld until after the election.  If Trump had won, you can bet your bones that same “largest clinical trial” would have still taken place."

So, I responded:

"The first vaccine was given December 14, 2020. It rolled out to healthcare works soon thereafter. It was not available to the over 65 crowd until after that (my father died the first week of December). But, as you said, it was available before then and withheld from the public. I honestly think you are ignoring what happened, as it happened. People were dying in droves and the "msm" was screaming hysterically, and state legislatures and governors did a number on civil rights.  It was a bad time in America, and yet "never let a good crisis go to waste" was the theme of the Democratic party and their buddies in the media.

Hindsight is always 20/20. We know a lot today about what happened, the efficacy of the vaccine, the negative ramifications with the vaccine, etc. But as it happened...

Is Desantis trying to get Biden reelected?

Because splitting the Republican vote between him and Trump is how you get Biden reelected.

He laid off staff the other day and money isn't quite as plentiful.  He may not make it to a split.

This is what the GOPe and the RDS campaign fails to understand - Trump's base isn't Republican. That's not who got him into office in '16. It's not who will get him into office in '24 if he were to win a second term. Trump's base is comprised of four groups: disenchanted former republicans, disenchanted former democrats, disenchanted libertarians/independents - and the largest group by far: people who have only voted for Trump in their lives.

That's why he's impossible to poll accurately - even if the pollsters were on the level. Most of his base don't answer polls, aren't registered with a party, and have spent most of their lives ignoring day-to-day politics and partisan spats.

It's why the GOP is already dead and buried - the "silent majority" knows exactly who they are: establishment bootlickers. No different than the most progressive democrats in office when it counts.

He should have kept his word and not run this year. Keep doing a good job in FL as gov and he probably walks into the WH in 28

He probably looked at the field, realized Trump is about to get his ass kicked, and saw the opportunity.

I'm one of those people who is absolutely certain the left wants Trump vs. Biden, and they're going to get it by propping him up with all the legal shit (which only serves to make him more popular in the ridiculous polls that few thinking people truly believe), and when they do, and Biden crushes him in the swing states, everyone will be standing around wondering WTF happened.

It'll be a blood bath. A phucking blood bath. Full control of all houses will go to the left, because everyone knows how poorly Trump's people did in the last midterms that should have been slam dunk.

And four more years of the left will ensure you get the socialist state they desperately want you to have.

And how is Ron DeSantis going to stop that? How will he have coattails? What is he doing to clean up voter rolls and fix voter fraud so he (or other Republicans) can win?

It's less about stopping it, which is absolutely important, and more about addition by subtraction.

I realize we differ on this, and that's okay, but Trump is a drag except to those people who still kiss his ring. Every time he talks, it's about how much of a victim he is. He spends more time pissing on the Republican challengers than he does pissing on the absolute 100% clear and present shit stain that is Biden.

He should be at a microphone every freaking day hammering the Bidens, cocaine in the WH, Burisma and money laundering and Whatsapp threats, telling everyone he's going to dismantle the FBI, etc. And when he says he's going to end the Ukraine war in 24 hours, he should come up with a plan different than the one the "neocon" DeSantis came up with.

Beyond that, DeSantis has been adamant in the beginning about embracing ballot harvesting where it's legal, and has repeatedly explained how he is putting people and plans in place in those states, and building coalitions, field teams, etc.

There is a long road ahead, and this thing is far from over, but why people refuse to see what the left is doing with Trump is mind-boggling to me. They want Trump because they 100% know they can beat his ass sideways. And that's exactly what they're going to do.
