Although Lyndon LaRouche ran for president, his felony conviction never stopped him.  Probably because it was Lyndon LaRouche, and no one cared.  He was legally prohibited for voting for himself, though.

That prospect could end up being very entertaining, in an amusing kind of way. The media is of course going to portray DeSantis as the sane choice for Republicans and will have to paint him as the good guy as opposed to bad, bad, MAGA Trump. But if he really wins the nomination, will then need to flipflop and make him out to be the bad guy in order to push their preferred Democrat nominee

Are you kidding? The media are going to attack DeSantis non-stop to help Trump. Trump is the only person Biden can beat according to the current polling. DeSantis will stomp Biden in a general election.

They have already started. They are blaming him for Disney cancelling a major construction project. ( he could be a part of the reason. )  But, they completely ignore that Disney is losing money and has already started laying people off.

If that’s the case, then, DeSantis will need to choose someone as his running mate who will augment his favorable qualities and cover up for whatever unfavorable aspects of his personality and/or policies there are.

 

That person is the current Republican South Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson (full disclosure: my first two books were published by the same publishing house as Robinson’s recent biography).

 

A true rags-to-riches story, Robinson first rose to prominence in 2018 when he stormed the Greensboro City Council to deliver what many described as a “fiery” and “common sense” speech defending gun rights. From there, Robinson cut quite a swathe in conservative media as a black man who was proudly—defiantly—conservative.

 

Robinson hits every point that DeSantis needs in a running-mate. The lieutenant governor has executive experience. He’s tough-as-nails. Robinson plays well in the media environment, too. Robinson is brash and loud—like a younger Donald Trump—whereas DeSantis is quiet and calculating.

 

Both men are proven conservatives from an ideological perspective. They’d play off each other well as president and vice-president. What’s more, Robinson speaks to a large segment of the voting populace that neither DeSantis nor former President Donald Trump do: African-American males.

He is nothing more than a story. He is 2nd chair to a doddering buffoon of a gov in NC. Cooper, D-NC, was the attorney general in NC and kept on ice for when needed and the D party was challenged. They lost a lot of traction with McCrory winning an election but made a stink of HB2 (the tranny dudes going to chicks bathroom bill). 

 

Cooper had 2 major laws enabled that received lots of attention. One was banning sex offenders from social media. This was obliterated by SCOTUS.  The other was the foundation of the do not call list - which clearly has not done shit.

 

As far as Robinson, he is just a good heel to the Dems so he is kept on the headlines but effectively castrated in the deep rooted good ol boy network
