Republicans, like Gov. Ron DeSantis, want you to know that they believe in the First Amendment, unless you disagree with them. A clear-cut example of this is the Republican response to Disney's concerns about the “Don't Say Gay” law. Disney publicly disagreed with the law and exercised its First Amendment right.

For its use of constitutionally protected speech, Disney was financially punished by Florida. An agreement that the state had in place with Disney since 1967 was shredded for political purposes in a matter of days. DeSantis is trying to score political points with the Republican base by attacking “woke” Disney, but his vindictiveness will ultimately fail. The courts will no doubt see his misguided actions as an abuse of power.

"Any elected official needs to meet some basic criteria: They need to be able to put country over self. They need to have a certain level of integrity and principle. They need to be able to reach across the aisle and bring people together and unite the country. Donald Trump doesn't meet those marks for me," he said.

The perfect way for Republicans to politically exploit the 20 member House of Representatives Democrat Conservative Blue Dog Coalition is to create the 20 member House of Representatives Conservative Red Dog Coalition.

 

Copy everything from the Blue Dog Coalition charter and change the words "Blue" to "Red".

House of Representatives Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy sends an e-mail to the other 210 Republican House members advising them he's creating the new coalition and is recruiting 20 members.  Once everyone replies McCarthy selects those 20 members.  The 20 members select a Chair and Vice-Chair.  The 20 member House of Representatives conservative Red Dog Coalition is now created.

 

Result:  American politics has just been completely revolutionized.  Liberal Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and AOC are apoplectic - they know they're finished.  American politics is now effectively run 100% by mainstream Republicans, conservative Republicans and conservative Democrats.

I wonder if people just got tired of posts about empty shelves and ignored this trend on baby formula as just another fake conspiracy, but it looks like this is the the FDA keeping the biggest plant shut down for reasons that no one can explain.

But you also have to take in to account that the Daily Mail's reporting is universally shit, and they don't know much about how US regulation works on top of that, so there's a good chance their story is simply wrong.

Another Result:  Mainstream media would die.  CNN, MSNBC and even FOX News vanish from the airwaves.  Conservative Red Dog Republicans and conservative Blue Dog Democrats would run the US federal (and state/local) government.  They are the centrists.  The left and the (religious) right would be politically marginalized.  There's not much difference between conservative Republicans and conservative Democrats.  No television drama.  Boring.

 

Government by centrist conservative Republicans and centrist conservative Republicans is a good thing.  All Americans win.

The progressive Democrat wing hasn't taken over anything.  It's that Republicans make no effort to politically exploit conservative Democrats who call themselves Blue Dogs.  Republicans never mention Blue Dog Democrats or their 20 member House of Representatives Blue Dog Coalition.

 

Republicans have everything.  National polls show not a significant number of liberal voters out there.  Probably even worse now with the Joe Biden disaster in the White House.  

 

In 1995 the Democrats created their conservative 20 member HOR conservative Blue Dog Coalition.  Why didn't Republicans (Newt Gingrich) immediately reciprocate by creating the 20 member conservative Republican Red Dog Coalition?  This would have made conservatives (Republican & Democrat) easily the largest voting bloc in the country - permanently.  Liberals like Elizabeth Warren, Nancy Pelosi, AOC, Dick Durbin and Bernie Sanders would barely exist.

 

If Republicans exploited Democrat Blue Dogs then conservative Joe Manchin (D-WV) would be Senate Majority Leader instead of liberal Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and conservative Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) would be Speaker of the House instead of liberal  Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
