That is hilarious. I suppose it is just a fundraiser to bank.

He's a coattail relative of some sort to Pelosi.  So, he'll have access to the big money behind the scenes dem backers.  Could easily see him winning the D nomination in '24 over Ol' Mush For Brains or the one who got her start way back when she was just in kneepads.

How prevalent mail in voting & Dominion machines are would be necessary to know to handicap his chances of beating DeSantis (or whomever beats him out on the other side).

Running for president is, essentially, a fundraiser. A massive, massive fundraiser. Newsom knows this. He's probably spending his recall campaign funds on this.

I suspect his ego and desire to grab more cash is more important than party to him, so he'll have no issue embarrassing Biden going into the mid-terms if it means mo' money for his pad.

Do not, however, underestimate the Demcorats' need to run a woman as a candidate, to fight the oppressive patriarchy that overturned Roe v. Wade.

That argument will be made - that the repeal of Roe v. Wade demonstrates the need for a woman in the White House.  And that argument will be embraced by a surprising number of progressives.  Without the least bit concern that they can't define "woman."

But, they "needed" to run a person of color at the top of the ticket, or a woman or young person at a minimum this last time and ended up with the whitest, oldest guy (he's older than Sanders, right? Sanders just looks like he's 102 IIRC) running who just happened to be the architect of the "3 strikes rule" that devastated African American communities.

Remember, it was 42, not 44, who was the "1st black President."  They'll have some sort of justification why they can abandon their "principles" to vote for Newsom  (he sponsored the 1st abortion vacations so HE will be the 1st woman President, or some other claptrap).

No doubt they'll make the arguments you predict.  But when the rubber hits the road, will go with the insider w/ family ties & access to deep pockets every time.

When stupid people start to discuss stuff they don't actually understand.

I have to believe if people didn't spend every day posting all the stupid shit that comes from this TV show, the show would cease to exist.

Senate pause, again: Leahy breaks hip

For the second time this year, Senate Democrats will likely have to pause the more contentious items on their agenda due to medical issues.

Vermont Democrat Patrick Leahy, at 82 the longest-serving member of the upper chamber, broke his hip in a fall at his home last night. He will undergo surgery to repair the damage, and so will be unable to cast any votes in a 50/50 chamber:

First off, we certainly want to wish Senator Leahy a speedy and full recovery. A broken hip at 82 is no joke, but medical response and rehabilitation for such injuries has markedly improved over recent decades.

That brings us to the rest of Leahy’s colleagues. This makes the second time this year that Senate Democrats have dipped below the 50-seat mark in the Senate for any significant period, and that creates some headaches. In February, Ben Ray Luján suffered a stroke and had to have brain surgery, which forced him to remain absent a few weeks. Luján made a full recovery and came back to work in the spring, but the absence forced Chuck Schumer to juggle the more contentious parts of his agenda until he had all 50 votes again.

He is not seeking reelection in November. Hopefully, he heals well and devotes his time to rehab.

Hey Ladies of Nationals Baseball,

Make sure you return on Tuesday and let us know the massive impact you had on MLB. Why, you could put an end to the sport! You could turn the tide! You could...y'know...realize no one wants MLB or anyone other sport to comment on this shit because we tune into these sports so we don't have to listen to any more incessant whining.

WHY should they comment on it?  Really don't care what MLB owners, nor NHL or NFL owners for that matter as well, think about it.
