You will eat bugs and wash them down with recycled sewage water...

Don’t be ‘squeamish’ about drinking reused wastewater, U.K. official says

Quote

People need to become “less squeamish” about drinking water that is derived from wastewater, the head of Britain’s Environment Agency says, as a way to tackle water shortages and increasingly severe droughts.

The idea of recycling wastewater for human consumption — once the realm of dystopian sci-fi films — is gaining traction globally as climate change intensifies droughts.

“Part of the solution will be to reprocess the water that results from sewage treatment and turn it back into drinking water — perfectly safe and healthy, but not something many people fancy,” James Bevan wrote in Britain’s Sunday Times newspaper, as the country swelters through a record-breaking hot and dry summer. ...

That is nothing new. My hometown has been doing this for decades.

Granted not all of becomes drinking water. Some of it does get pumped back into the aquifer that provides drinking water.

We have reclaimed water for sprinklers here. It is not drinkable though.

We use well water for the sprinklers, and are tapped into the municipal water supply for drinking and everything else. The water bill here is very cheap… kinda like I would have expected it to be when we lived on top of the Great Lakes (but it wasn’t).

I live in the middle of the desert, so water conservation is key to sustainablity. We do have a river that flows through the city but lately there has not been as much water and most of that goes to the local farmers

The recycled sewage water isn't that outlandish.  Wastewater treatment can literally take the nastiest sludge and make it deionized water (which you should not drink because it is too pure).  Many wastewater treatment systems already produce water that is pure enough to be considered potable but gets used in non-potable applications due to the PR.

Desalination of ocean water and treatment of wastewater towards drinking water are 2 things areas without potable drinking water will need to get accustomed to.

That war training video is old.

Like really old.

It's footage from the late 1870's. After the Brits got wiped out in Isandlwana (Zulu Wars), there was a small group of American mercenaries trying to sell their services down there.

Lee disbanded the Army of Northern Virginia and surrendered, rather than engage in a protracted guerilla campaign.  He holds no small responsibility for ending the Civil War.

If the analogy was to portray Gorbachev as doing nothing to end the Cold War, it's a bad analogy.

No, actually I meant literally paying off his base.

Plenty of progressives who paid $100k for gender studies degrees who are working at Starbucks and can't figure out why they have to pay back what they borrowed.

Literally paying off his base.

Let's recap the WH lately:

If you voted for Trump, you're a semi-fascist.

If you voted for Trump, you are a threat to our democracy.

If you voted for Trump, you are a threat to our freedom.

If you voted for Trump, you are a threat to our rights.

If you voted for Trump and have a gun, please note we have F-15s and we're not ashamed to use them.

And everyone is like, "Oh, that ol' Joe and his rhetorical flourish."

Why is everyone okay with this?
