Inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: what the future home of the Buffalo Bills could look like

When the Buffalo Bills take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Sunday fans will get a glimpse at the stadium that has had the biggest influence on the new Bills stadium that is being built in Orchard Park.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium opened in 2019 and was designed by Populous. It has become one of the top soccer venues in both the United Kingdom and the world.

So what are the biggest similarities and differences between Highmark Stadium and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Similarities:

* Exterior of building, including height and steel facade.
* Stacked seating in bowls, allowing seats to be closer to the field.
* Partial overhang covering seating. In Buffalo, about 70% of seats will be covered. Tottenham has full coverage.
* Seating capacity will be similar, Tottenham seats 62,850.

be interested to hear from fans watching the game at Hotspur.

The photos do not seem to support the "full coverage" claim, especially if there is any wind to drive the rain.

Maybe it does not rain in England

warm, fuzzy stadium update

good news is that your local politicians have turned the project into a woke dumpster fire of special interests

when the politicians determine that the prime contracts can't be trusted to select their contractors, good things will surely follow (like huge PSL fees to offset the cost overruns)

expect the time line and cost estimate to both double before the end is in sight

The Bills expect the worst, which is why the stadium formerly known as the Ralph will continue to be used for many more years to come

https://buffalonews.com/news/local/buffalo-bills-stadium-construction-erie-county-legislature/article_e248fa12-6383-11ee-a19e-1762bb09ab5b.html

Fuquan Collins, chief diversity officer for Turner Construction, and Christopher McFadden, a spokesman for the Gilbane/Turner construction management team, said the hired prime contractors have subcontracting commitments with 55 minority-, women- or service-disabled veteran-owned companies. Of that number, 32 are locally-owned businesses.

But Legislature Chairwoman April Baskin, who has championed diversity inclusion in new stadium construction, said it was not enough for the Bills and Gilbane/Turner to meet its diversity job creation goals. She wants those jobs to be filled by local businesses.

Unwilling to leave local diversity hiring efforts for the new Buffalo Bills stadium solely to Gilbane/Turner, the Erie County Legislature on Thursday voted unanimously to create a New Stadium Community Inclusion Task Force.

Baskin has repeatedly expressed deep concern about the idea that prime contractors, who issue the bulk of subcontracting work, would be given the responsibility for selecting subcontractors – and stick with their favorites – without oversight from a committee of locally invested professionals and leaders.

Legislator Jeanne Vinal, D-Amherst, said the inability of minority contractors to secure a large bond with their existing assets is a serious barrier to them working on the Bills project. She asked if anything could be done to help them leap that hurdle. She also raised the concern about contractors getting paid quickly because they don’t have the financial reserve to wait weeks or months for payment.

Legislator Chris Greene, R-Clarence, asked for reassurance that companies that have not been certified by the county and state to bid on stadium projects will still have time to do so.

No. Not ever. Not ever in a million years has it rained in England. Trust me.

But, people have been wet before. Even I, EVEN I have been wet before. It’s not exactly life changing.

because the fans of Buffalo like shitty, rainy, cold weather and this stadium is all about what the fans deserve

oh, and the team needs that home filed advantage of playing in shitty, rainy, cold, windy conditions to enhance the passing offense

How about the fact it couldn't hold the snow load?

no way to know, as they didn't spend any money on evaluating such contingencies since any form of roof was a no go from inception.

It's basically a tarp. Minnesota has to have a new dome built because a stronger fabric dome collapsed under the weight of snow.

Will the visitor's room be any better at the new stadium?

Top Three
• Arrowhead Stadium (Chiefs)
• US Bank Stadium (Vikings)
• SoFi Stadium (Rams/Chargers)

Bottom Three
• MetLife Stadium (Giants/Jets)
• FedEx Field (Commanders)
• Highmark Stadium (Bills)

It's crazy to think MetLife Stadium opened in 2010 and cost $1.6 billion, yet it is widely considered the NFL's worst stadium, while Arrowhead Stadium opened in 1972 (the 3rd-oldest in the NFL), and players love it.
