Many opportunities for people to steal your car.

By the time they get that Central Terminal/Stadium complex built, cars will be illegal anyway.

I like this a lot and it's probably the dark horse,  Now it makes sense when there were a few tweets suggesting UB involvement.    Would make it much more palatable for NYS to throw resources at, and would be more welcome for Canadian, Rochester, & Syracuse fanbase.

Much shorter drive for me if they ever let the unvaxxed in again

You have a point. Never mind my above reply.

Roger Goodell says NFL wants Bills 'secure in WNY for generations'

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the Buffalo Bills’ efforts to fund a new stadium by forging a public-private partnership with New York State are “progressing in a positive way” and that the parties are “all working well together” with the goal of keeping the Bills “secure in Western New York for generations.”

“Generally, I think things are progressing in a positive way,” Goodell said. “I think the parties are all working well together. I think there’s a recognition in the need for a new stadium in Buffalo for the Bills. And I think everyone’s working with that objective in mind.

“Listen, this is a process. And there has to be a public-private partnership here that has to be managed, but I think everyone’s coming to the table with the intent to make sure that the Buffalo Bills are secure in Western New York for generations. I think that’s important and that’s what we want to achieve.”

Potential year round revenue sources

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

You got 8 Sundays a year plus 2 preseason games.  Only 355 more days to fill.

Downtown Stadium has "Fast Ferry" written all over it.  It'll be great for the Pegulas and the NFL...and pretty much no one else.

if they can't agree on a free stadium-

maybe Buffalo can follow the St Louis reparation model

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/10/27/nfl-braces-for-billion-dollar-exposure-in-st-louis-litigation/

Here’s the key portion of Wickersham’s article, regarding what came next: “Jones indicated that Kroenke’s settlement figure was billions of dollars. Pash refused to confirm the figure — a source with direct knowledge of the situation told ESPN it was less than a billion — but told those in the meeting that it was more than the net worth of some in the room.”

Fwiw, the Bills only presented OP and downtown options at the owners' meeting yesterday, with OP being the preferred option.   That's the team's take, and things can change once the state weighs in.

This is from Tim Graham at the Athletic:

The Pegulas are tired of the armchair architects and developers who insist the Buffalo Bills’ owners are wrong for wanting to build a new stadium in Orchard Park.

That’s where the Pegulas want to put it. That’s where the NFL is happy to put it. That’s where sources indicate the state is willing to put it.

Pegula Sports and Entertainment executive vice president Ron Raccuia was forceful Wednesday in dismissing the many local experts who’ve been interviewed about building the team’s new home downtown instead. They claim a downtown stadium — maybe even with a roof — would spur economic development and draw more events.

“We’ve spent years studying the various locations,” Raccuia said, “and we know unequivocally Orchard Park is the most feasible, the most efficient, the most cost-effective location. Downtown is a location, but it is not any of those things.

“Some of the noise that’s out there now from people that are uninformed is very unproductive to our discussions. Let the experts who are the national and international consultants we have hired and the state has hired, let them tell everyone what the data shows, and then reasonable people can make decisions.”

Raccuia spoke in the lobby of the InterContinental New York Barclay hotel, where NFL owners held their annual fall meeting. Matt Shapiro, NFL vice president of event strategy and integration, delivered a presentation Wednesday morning to update owners on the evolving Bills stadium project.

So I'm guessing that Pembroke is right out, then?

hazards of stealing teams

so a few NFL owners lied and cheated St Louis out of their team

and highly likely they could be personally liable for punitive damages

so the answer to convert the personal liability to a league obligation by NFL GIVING St Louis an expansion team,

in the process forfeiting the entry fee of at least $1 bil - that all owners would share

how do the other owners not have a problem with this "solution"?

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/11/02/nfl-fails-in-final-effort-to-relocate-rams-relocation-case/

The NFL didn’t seem to take the Rams relocation litigation seriously until July, when a judge ruled that multiple owners must disclose financial information because they could be personally liable for punitive damages.

Barring a settlement, a trial will begin on January 10. It likely will be unfolding as the Rams host the Super Bowl in the swanky new venue that owner Stan Kroenke built in Inglewood.

The outcome makes a massive verdict against the league even more likely. Which makes a fight over whether Kroenke will honor his indemnity more likely. Which could eventually persuade the NFL to just offer an expansion team to St. Louis, if Kroenke is able to break his promise to his partners to pay the expenses arising from his broken promise to the team’s former home.

NY EDC Study is released (PDF link)

Still going through it, but here are executive highlights:

At this point, the study's main purpose was to evaluate building new vs renovating.  Recommendation is to build new, given the very high renovation cost.   Didn't opine on OP vs downtown, other than stating the obvious huge cost difference between the two sites, and virtually no net economic benefit of the stadium construction, no matter the location (duh)

Another, duh recommendation in the plan is to finally add a Southwestern Blvd exit off the Thruway and increase traffic capacity on Big Tree off 219.
