In addition to the grass, will they also have to widen the surface? A soccer pitch is much wider than a football field and there’s not a ton of sideline room at MetLife between the field and the stands.

Still doesn't make sense, at least any more than it makes sense that the NFL has no problem shortening the lives of their star attractions. The fields absolutely need to be an issue. And why the players union doesn't make it more of an issue is curious at best.

But I find it difficult to believe NFL stars are Elvis and Goodell and Owners are Colonel Parker.

The NFLPA has always been a bit of a joke.  One of the reasons the NFL is fine with shortening player's lives is how many they pay pensions to.  Long term medical care is a serious expense as well.

I couldn't find NFL stats but MLB payed out over $187M in pension benefits in 2018 and that number is only going up.

Nothing screams "Come play for us" like the owner talking shit about a player the organization spent the second overall pick on.  Jets gonna Jets.

Nothing screams “come play for us” than when a backup QB leaves the team, sits on the couch for 3/4 of the season, goes to another team  and goes on to win “comeback player of the year”.

Flacco’s comeback was literally the result of not playing for the Jest.

How about the icing on the  cake: Mecole Hardman signed as a FA with the Jest, and had 1 catch for 6 yards in 6 games.  Goes on to catch the GW touchdown for KC during OT in the SB.  Comeback player of the year runner-up.

Yeah, go out there and see if any team wants to give up draft capital when everyone knows they can't keep you anyway.

Why would any team give up anything when he's going to be available for free?
