I'm probably over-thinking it, but worse than the Steelers not having a playoff win in the past 5 seasons is the fact that just getting into the playoffs last year was considered a huge deal for the team, if only for Ben to have his final game nationally televised.

I used to be a big proponent of the Pro Bowl. But with players playing not to get hurt, and fans getting pissy that they're watching pre-teen flag football, it's definitely time to scrap the game.

 

They should do a skills competition with each team playing for a charity. Hell, they could do a takeoff of Battle of the Network Stars, even get some old network stars like Gabe Kaplan and Linda Carter and Valerie Bertinelli to do interviews on the sideline.

 

Yes. THAT would be better to watch than the current Pro Bowl game.

Asians are 7% of the general population, but are 0% of head coaches or general managers. They are close to 0% for assistant coaches as well. They are underrepresented. Blacks are 14% of the general population. In 2020 they were over 35% of assistant coaches. Blacks are over-represented among NFL coaching ranks by a factor of 2.5. Assuming your description of the rule is accurate, this was motivated by wokeism or racial activism. Not by any kind of search for equity.
