Buffalo Sabres 21 - 22 Season

Rough first period last night but Anderson kept them in it.  Much better in the second and third and came away with a nice win over the best team in the NHL.

Scored some pretty goals AND some gritty goals.  Rasmus Dahlin's play to keep the puck in the zone and then setup a goal was breathtaking.

Nice win over the Leafs, the third in 4 meetings between the 2 teams this season.  Very aggressive all night - played with no fear.

Power needs to add about 20 pounds.  I thought Granato did a nice job of spotting him and using him mostly against "not Matthews".  He certainly has talent.

Toronto isn't going far in the post season with that defense and goaltending.

Dumb question, but...

Did Rick J call his last game yet?  Did I miss it?

They honored him on April 1st, but his actual last called game will  be Friday, April 29 vs. Chicago Blackhawks

@Taro T, you’re usually in tune with this stuff. If they sign either of the college goalies, can they play in the Calder cup playoffs (if that’s even happening this year)? They probably wouldn’t want that since UPL is down there, but it could be a good experience for them even just riding the pine.

they were both workhorses this year too, so the also probably don’t want to throw too many more games at them.

No, they would not be eligible as they weren't on the roster at the trade deadline.

Fairly comfortable in saying Levi isn't going to bolt.  Am hoping Portillo's friendships with Power & Dahlin & the possibility of playing behind both of them & Samuelsson along w/ getting his ELC effectively burned up in the Spring is enough to get him to sign when Michigan's next season is done.

Fun fact: Craig Anderson was in attendance at the first game RJ ever called.

Should've posted this 1 day earlier.  You might have caught some fish.  😉

When Power gets to "man strength" he's going to be scary.  6'6" & 240-250 # is seriously big.

In the Blues game the skill & inexperience were both on display.  The vision on the Tuch goal was impressive.  The precision of that pass made the finish possible.  Great play.

And then on Tarasenko's 1st goal, there was no reason for Power to drop below the goal line & then just stand there as the puck went back to the low slot.  If he stays in front maybe the goal goes in anyhow (it's Tarasenko for crying out loud) but it's not automatic.  He'll improve on that.

If Adams can fix the goaltending, the future is finally looking bright.

Another rough start but good second period.  VO and TNT with a pair each as the Sabres take all 4 weekend points against the suddenly very terrible Flyers.  Thompson now has 36 goals on the season and Dahlin is closing in on 40 assists/50 points.

I just saw a headline on TSN right now that said a goal last night by Spezza (38) from Giordano (38) and Simmonds (33) was the oldest scoring play of the NHL season. I guess that means Craig Anderson has no assists this year. He’d have beaten that total all on his own.

Skinner made a great play there and then showed how close this team is now by immediately chasing down the puck so OP has his souvenir.

Not a great game but 2 shorties!

And the mobbed him in the corner too. I saw an extended highlight and Jokiharju came flying in last second. It was great.

Those two shorties were hilarious. It’s a shame Lindy has mellowed because he clearly wanted to smash things.

He's got a mostly young team over there.  He did look like he wanted to eat the Hamburgler.
