Time to reinvestigate Trump for the same thing they couldn't find an issue with before. But, if they bring more charges against former Trump CEO Allen Weisselberg, this time he will say what they want.

Good thing there is no real crime in Manhattan.  :classic_dry:

Another Ridiculous Criminal Investigation of Donald Trump Emerges

</snip>

Back in April, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg decided to essentially shutter the investigation into an alleged “hush-money” payment to porn worker Stormy Daniels due to a lack of progress. Two of the office’s top prosecutors working on the case resigned in protest, running to the media to proclaim that Trump was a criminal being let off the hook. It was a stunning mask-off moment, showcasing the lawfare that takes place so often in institutions we are asked to trust.

Apparently, the pressure was just too much, though. Now, that criminal investigation is back on, and prosecutors are searching for ways to send the bad orange man to jail.

</snip>

What makes this so insidious is the fact that it’s so obviously a fishing expedition meant to push partisan aims. For years, the DA’s office has been unable to build a case around the hush-money payment. In fact, their case was so weak that they were thinking about relying on a completely unproven legal theory. Bragg booted that idea when he took office. Now, the “zombie theory,” which is apparently what in-office prosecutors call it, is back.

</snip>

I'd be interested in seeing how they plan to get around the statute of limitations. This supposedly happened, what, 7 years ago?

They don't care and it appears there are no judges/others to hold them to account.

Ohhhhhh, they got him now!!

He could have just left it at "an investigation involving a former president."

But citing Trump's announcement he'll run in 2024?  Not exactly convincing me that DOJ is apolitical.

And you're just now figuring that out? It wasn't

  • The imprisonment of political prisoners with no trial on misdemeanor charges
  • ignoring politically motivated hate, destruction, and murder around major cities
  • blatant lying from the DOJ and FBI on Hunter's laptop story as Russian disinformation
  • the lack of a special counsel to investigate the Biden Crime Family
  • calling PROOF of rampant voter fraud nationwide a conspiracy theory
  • attacking red states rights to establish their own election laws
  • ignoring standing immigration laws and federal lawlessness at the southern border to increase democrat voter rolls
  • threatening parents at school board meetings on charges of terrorism
  • the arrest and conviction of Steve Bannon on charges of exercising presidential privilege
  • the arrest of Peter Navarro on charges of exercising presidential privilege
  • FBI raid on Mar-A-Lago and purposeful misinformation on classification procedures

I know I've left a few out, but it seems you have a lot of catching up to do :cheers:

I'm torn between "That's really creative" and "Some people have far too much time on their hands."

Both are good choices.

Shocked they haven't been already.

I have said it before, Real Estate taxes are just different. Depreciation does a real service to taxes owed.

It is going to be difficult for the average person who does not derive a large chunk of their income from real estate to understand a $0 owed and how he can still be a billionaire. We are teeny-tiny potatoes compared to Trump, and real estate tax laws have benefited us greatly in the past. This year and next year? Not-so-much.  I am already bracing for the hit.

I can honestly say that Uncle Sam always gets his. It may be deferred, but whether it is on resale or some other way, the IRS is getting real estate money. Maybe not today, but you can bet on tomorrow.

The average person doesn't even understand the difference between "income" and "net worth" (largely because they've been conned by @$$h@l&s like AOC conflating them).  Of course they're not understanding the intricacies of depreciation and deferred capital gains.

And is anyone else greatly disturbed that the IRS can hand over a person's tax information to Congress on demand?

That's not - shouldn't be - a "Trump" issue.  I loathe the Clintons, and I'd be pissed off if the IRS handed their tax information to Ways and Means, too.
