Have you or someone you know gotten the vaccine shot yet? (Let’s keep political comments out of this please)

My brother told me that his boss got Covid today. The boss was one of those that said they were tracking you with it and didn't sign up for the shot, which my brother got Friday.

I hope your brother (and his boss) are ok.

My question, which no one can (or will) answer, is why get a shot if you have already tested positive for covid and have the antibodies?

Might be that if you tested positive, but have  low levels of immunity, getting a shot could boost your immunity.  Dr. Drew Pinsky (of Loveline fame) had Covid and plans on getting the vaccine.  He's a board certified physician  and not a pHd doctor like Dr. Phil.

Tomorrow I have the opportunity to stand in line with a large group of people who have not received the vaccine in order to possibly receive one of a finite number of vaccinations

I think I'll pass

Just got my son his first dose of Moderna this morning. In before the rush as the state lowers the age to 30 this week and 16 next week.

My son got his first dose of the Pfizer today. He had to go to Corning for it as there are no shots available in WNY.

Mother is getting the  J &J in 2-4 hours.  Since she is housebound, her primary is sending someone over to administer it.

On a side note its possible the slight rise in covid cases may actually help the situation from a herd immunity standpoint. Younger, healthier people gaining natural protection against the newer variants as the country begins to open. A silver lining perhaps.

If you live in NYS and want the J&J check out Wegmans. Hubby and I got scheduled today, and so did my brother and SIL. Nothing in WNY, but a drive to the Finger Lakes is always nice.

Especially if it's a one shot deal. :thumb:

Mom and I get our 2nd shot of Moderna 13 of this month. Thanks for the invite CarperCrawler, I can see why you would feel as comfortable as a bug in a rug here, hehe

Got the first one in NF this AM. No waiting.Answer the routine questions, took temp,  show ID. Verify phone# and email which I had entered when I made the appt.  Didn't feel the needle. Wait 15 min and go.Parking was free on the streets. Probably because it isn't tourist season yet.  Drove over to the casino a block away and blew $5 on the slots.

I'm happy you like it here, so glad to see your posts.

You and your mother are both well on the way, you're already about 60-70% immune. From what I hear about Moderna #2, you both should increase your water intake 24 hours before and after the injection, try to get a good night's sleep the day before, and take 2 or 3 ibuprofens a half hour before the injections if your stomachs tolerate it. It's not unusual at about 24 hours after getting it, to feel a little blah and achy and even have a low grade temperature. It just seems this kind of thing is most common with Moderna, but plenty of people feel no side effects.....even if you do, everyone feels fine the next day.  :thumb:
