Great for our point defense system.

The claim that  "Obama gave Iran our drone technology" is ridiculous, as is the link that it is suggested supports such a claim.

Iran has had drone technology for decades.

The US drone that was cyber-jacked and landed in Iran was about a hundred and fifty miles from the Afghan border when it landed.

The claim, from the link provided, addresses absolutely nothing about what such a strike to demolish that drone would involve, or the consequences, as it was near a city.

Drones have an incredible weakness, and that is that the data link can be jammed or taken over.

That is the reality.

You're really beginning to amuse me, I really hope you stick around. Do you have a link to that decades ago claim? First I know of they got any air power at all is the ones that ran there from Saddam during the first gulf war. But that does not give them drone technology.

I'd also like a link to the claim the Sentinel was cyber-jacked please. I don't recall ever seeing that as a cause. Seems they would have been hijacking the hell out of our birds in Iraq over the last few years.

I amuse you?

There are scores of links that discuss the Iranian drone subject.

"The third is the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) fleet, the focus of this report. While Iranian UAVs have been, until recently at least, among the least publicized Iranian asymmetric tools, they are among the Islamic Republic’s oldest, in service now for 35 years."

https://www.aei.org/research-products/report/a-short-history-of-the-iranian-drone-program/

You are clearly uniformed about any of this.

Regarding the cyber-jacking of the drone, there are countless claims that that is exactly what happened, as well as common snese.

https://www.securityweek.com/reports-say-us-drone-was-hijacked-iran-through-gps-spoofing

There is simply no way that you could land a drone, undamaged, unless you were controlling it, which is exactly what happened.

This isn't an unknown issue. In those days, loss of data link and jamming were major issues, and the weak link in the program.

Further, and regarding blaming Obama, (who I didn't vote for and never would), the thought of a strike to get a drone on the ground that was controlled by a country that would have found it in about 20 minutes, after all they hacked it, is preposterous.

The thing landed about 130 miles inside Iran.

A strike, which would have been launched from Afghanistan, would take a day to plan and execute.

Nothing quite like launching a four ship strike to kill a drone which would be difficult to see from the air, 150 miles inside a heavily defended area in a foreign country.

Great idea

Is there any common sense here?

Reading your post more carefully.

This is an odd sentence, but if you are claiming that they had no air force prior to the crap that was flown into Iran on Taco Bell (run for the border) missions, you not only have no idea of their drone program, you have no idea of their air force.

They were trained and equipped by the US, and flew F-14s in their battle with Iraq.

They weren't good, but they were better than Iraq.

You should stop being amused and attempt being informed.

I apologize, I didn't know we were talking about children's toys, I thought it was about military and surveillance drones. And when did that drone technology become a threat to anyone?

From the article @Crap Throwing Monkey linked:

Quote

The Iranian military utilizes its UAV fleet for two main purposes: surveillance and attack. Over the last decade, Iranian UAV platforms for both purposes have expanded tremendously with not only the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps but also the regular Iranian military and civil authorities gaining access to Iranian-made drones tailored for their specific needs and mission sets. Whereas once, Iran did little more than attach cameras or grenades to rudimentary drones that were limited both by weather and line of sight to their controllers, today Iranian controllers can pilot drones for hours at a time over hundreds of miles utilizing GPS coordinates. That said, Iranian claims to have reverse engineered captured US drones appear exaggerated, as do some Iranian claims about the utility of their drones in the fight against the Islamic State.

So yeah, they had kids toys before the last decade or so. And while the article says "appear exaggerated" do you honestly believe no one, the Iranians, Russians, or Chinese didn't reverse engineer it?

So now the old message board trick of moving the goal posts, in this case to Antarctica.

Your claim was that Obama "gave them their drone technology."

That is ridiculous.

Everyone with any familiarity with that program knew that the weakness was in the link. It was a common occurrence to temporarily lose the link,  hacking was a known possibility, and that is what happened.

Of course they reverse engineered the thing. That is the risk you take, and it happens all the time.

I have no idea what their drone technology was at the time, I absolutely know that they had them prior to that, and your claim was false, and I'm quite sure, based on other evidence, that they are quite technologically competent in that area, as are a host of other countries.

Further, you state that the first you knew about their "air power" was from what was flown there during the first gulf war is equally uninformed.

In 1980 The Iranian Air Force had 77 F-14's and over a hundred F-4's as well as a host of other airplanes.

Recognize those aircraft? Know who made them? Know who sold them to the IAF?

I'll save you the time. It was the US, and the program was started under Richard Nixon.

Along with the aircraft, they bought the Sparrow, Sidewinder and Phoenix missiles. The technology in those far exceeds drone stuff, so is is preposterous to assume they were that far behind.

Along with that, we also sold them the Hawk air defense system, the best SAM missile system on earth at the time, and containing extremely complex technology.

We also sold them P3 Orion airplanes which had Harpoon anti ship missile capability.

On a personal note, the only "hot" intercept I ever did when I turned a missile on and locked a guy was against an Iranian P3 closing on my aircraft carrier.

He ultimately turned away after I tapped him, pointed to my missile, told him if he opened any weapon doors he was going to be shot, and and escorted him for a hundred miles or so.

Anyway, I'm not an Obama guy, but stating that he "gave" them drone technology is a gross overstatement. You run those things you take the risk of losing them. Every president.

  • Have you heard of the new CO2 monitoring credit card yet? Mastercard is issuing them voluntarily (so far) together with the United Nations. It monitors the carbon footprint of every purchase and cuts you off if you go over your limit for that day, week, or month. Makes you want to run right out and apply for one doesn’t it?
  • Looks like General Milley in conjunction with the Speaker of the House, violated not only his Oath of Office, but the Uniform Code of Military Justice as it pertains to Chain of Command and insubordination. If this proves true, considering how quickly they went after Lt Col Scheller, Milley should be arrested and court martialed in 3, 2 ,1…. Problem is, there is no one left to hold him accountable.
  • Donald Trump is still living rent free inside the cavernous empty head of Joe Biden.
  • If there are any Joe Biden statues anywhere, might be time to tear them down. According to this book he has a family history as slave owners.
  • Remember all those accusations of Trump using campaign money to pay hush money to strippers and models topped off by Avenatti and Stormy? Yeah, the FEC quietly dropped the investigation.
  • It won’t matter I’m sure due to the corruption already witnessed in the CA vote, but have you noticed Gavin Newsom’s charge that a vote for Larry Elder is a vote against Racial Justice and Diversity?
  • The Widow of fallen Marine Rylee McCollum gave birth to the next generation of Marines in Camp Pendelton. He would be the proud Papa on a beautiful baby WM. Step up to the bar Marine, Chesty is waiting for a cigar from you.
  • You know my feelings on polling and how they can be manipulated to give you the results you want. But this one is straight forward and finds that 60% of Americans think Biden should be impeached over the handling of Afghanistan. That includes 32% of Democrats.
  • In today edition of WTF is wrong with us, the Biden Administration admitted it is sending financial aid to the Taliban through the UN… Yeah, I don’t see any problems with this either… (In my best Oprah voice) You get a share, and you get a share, and you….. Wasn’t 80 billion worth of weapons enough?
  • Good article stating the obvious. The Republican Party cannot go into 2023 with the same old leadership still in place or we might be doomed to groundhog day over and over…
  • In 2020 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Americans spent more in taxes than on food, clothes, healthcare,  and entertainment combined.

Reading the CNN article about it (as I'm not subscribing to the Independent), it looks like most of what he did was reaffirm the chain of command to his subordinates, which isn't a violation of anything.  Neither is talking to the Speaker of the House, unquestionable harpy bitch though she may be.

He was disparaging to the Commander-in-Chief, though, which is sufficient for removal.  Just ask Stanley McChrystal.

First, let us establish that there is only 1 President of the United States at a time, and that neither of them were Milley or Pelosi. As for reaffirming the chain of command, that is not what he allegedly did. He was intentionally trying to usurp the authority (not disparaging) of the POTUS which is most definitely against the UCMJ and the Constitution since the POTUS is also Commander in Chief.

As for the discussion with Pelosi, ask her about that.... She's a self proclaimed expert on collusion after all.

And I would make this argument regardless of the POTUS which means I'll be damned if I want this idiot as Chair of the Joint Chiefs under Biden either. IMHO he needs to be in Leavenworth so he doesn't infect anyone else in the military with his political idiocy.

The details provided in the CNN article suggest that he didn't try to usurp the CINC's authority, but merely reaffirmed the chain of command to his subordinates.

Now, it's an open question as to how much you should trust CNN, or Woodward, to be honest.  But that's what they've both reported.  And what little I could see of the Independent's reporting didn't contradict it.

  • Well, Rosie McGowan may be my last crush, but I might have a new one now in Nicki Minaj. I know absolutely nothing about her as a performer, but you have to like anyone that takes a stand, and then goes all in to defend that stand. For the record, she is not anti-vax as some in the media claimed, she is doing what everyone should do, research yourself, and with consultation with your doctor make a decision. Edit to add, I’ve listened to them both tonight in the news and decided I want to be a polygamist. I love women who can speak their minds with intelligence to boot!
  • A Pennsylvania Senate Committee has voted to move forward with an investigation into the 2020 election. I’m pessimistic at this point since they have had months to decide this and Majority Leader Corman has been a vocal opponent of an audit till now so I’m betting it won’t be a full blown like AZ is.

  • Biden has summoned 3.5 trillion spending plan holdouts Sinema and Manchin to the White House woodshed. Sadly, I agree with Biden when he say in the end, Manchin has always been there so if the bill is going to fail, it’s up to the Senator from Arizona.

Yeah, he’s another POS as are the agents who dropped the ball over the allegations and subsequent investigation fiasco. Who is going to hold the FBI accountable?

  • I’ve told people I know the “rally” this weekend in support on Jan 6 protesters that I suspect is pretty sketchy since not a single decent organization I’m aware of has signed on. Seems Trump agrees but for different reasons.
  • This is one of the most inhumane things we will ever witness in this country as people who flood across the border are stuck under this bridge in Texas. And of course none are vaccinated and all will be scattered across the county at the whim of DHS.

  • This I think this is a thought-provoking article not on the effectiveness of the mRNA vaccines, but how it is classified. The argument is that most vaccines give you immunity (way too often misused for these) to the disease, like polio, measles, or the Hep B I just got and anyone who administers first aid might consider. It instead helps you beat the virus, so maybe it should be labelled a therapeutic instead, just like Ivermectin or HCQ.
  • Here is another one at American Thinker which makes the argument that the mandates really have nothing to do with your health, and everything to do with control. MHO is that with the introduction of Obamacare, your medical care, for better or worse; became political and this is just more proof
  • It’s one thing to mandate a vaccine, it’s another purely evil one to try and confiscate other treatment options that healthcare workers have.
  • And the Biden administration has already sliced in half the number of anti-body treatments sent to the state of Florida.
  • And just as politics has invaded the medical field, it is now also firmly entrenched in science as the science we tend to follow must be approved by the government.
  • Uh-oh…. Maybe the establishments worst nightmare realized as BLM AND MAGA activists take to the streets TOGETHER to demonstrate against vax mandates… united in power!
